Community Highlights: Meet Jonathan Marshall of TotalHome Hub

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Marshall.

Hi Jonathan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
TotalHome Hub started from a small moment that turned into a bigger realization. I had an overgrown bush on the side of my house that had gotten out of hand, and I honestly didn’t even know where to start. I went to AI to figure out what to do, and it helped, but it also made something really clear to me. The real problem wasn’t just getting an answer in the moment. The real problem was that I had let it get to that point in the first place.

That’s what sparked the idea. I started thinking about how many parts of homeownership work the same way. You don’t usually wake up and decide to ignore maintenance or projects. Life just gets busy, details get scattered, and then suddenly you’re reacting to something that could have been handled earlier with the right reminders, tracking, and organization.

I’m an engineer by background, so I started building what I wished existed. A simple hub that helps you manage your home proactively, not just search for answers when something goes wrong. The goal is to keep everything in one place and make it easier to stay ahead of projects, maintenance, and the little things that turn into expensive surprises.

Right now, TotalHome Hub is in the final stretch before beta launch. I’m finishing key pieces, tightening the experience, and polishing it so it’s ready for a beta release in the next couple of months.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road, but it’s been a worthwhile one. The hardest part has been the sheer scope. Homeownership isn’t one category, it’s projects, maintenance, inventory, documentation, scheduling, and a lot more. Turning that into something that feels simple takes a lot of iteration.

Another challenge has been building it the right way, not the fast way. When you’re dealing with household data and personal documentation, you have to think about security, permissions, and reliability from day one. That adds time, but it’s important.

And finally, the build path itself has been the most recent challenge. When I started about a year ago, I was heading down the route of building it as a progressive web app. As the product became clearer, I realized it made more sense to focus on a true App Store experience, so I pivoted. That meant refocusing time and effort to move everything in that direction, which affects timelines, but it’s the right call for the long-term experience.
Right now, I’m in that final stretch. I’m finishing key pieces, polishing the product, and working to have it ready in the App Stores in the coming months.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
TotalHome Hub is an all-in-one home management platform built to help homeowners stay organized and stay ahead of the things that usually turn into stress and expensive surprises. Instead of being a directory you only use when something breaks, the focus is proactive homeownership. It gives people one place to manage projects, track maintenance, keep important home details and documentation, and get guided help when they are not sure what to do next.

What sets TotalHome Hub apart is that it is designed around real life. Most homeowners are busy, and the problem is rarely a lack of information. The problem is that everything is scattered. Notes, receipts, warranties, schedules, and “I’ll do it later” tasks end up in ten different places. TotalHome Hub brings that together in a simple hub and helps you build habits that prevent small issues from becoming big ones.

We are currently in the final stretch of building and polishing ahead of launch, and I’m excited to involve early users in shaping the product. If you want to follow along, get updates, or be one of the first people to test the app, you can join the launch list at www.totalhomehub.app. There is an option to check if you are interested in beta testing, and I’ll be sending email updates as we get closer to the beta and launch.

I also regularly share updates and homeowner-focused content on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. I publish blog posts several times a week as well, and readers can find those at www.totalhomehub.app/blog.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is building things that genuinely solve real problems. Homeownership has a way of turning small, easy-to-miss tasks into big headaches. I care about creating a tool that keeps people organized and helps them stay ahead of issues before they become emergencies. If TotalHome Hub can save someone time, money, and stress, then it’s doing what it was built to do.
