Life & Work with Michael-Ashley, Ebuka Oguejiofor of Other

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael-Ashley, Ebuka Oguejiofor.

Hi Michael-Ashley, Ebuka , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey started as a model when I’ll always disrupt the job of creative director on any set that I came to. I come to a photographer ready with a moodboard and full editorial production deck for production. Over time I realized this is a huge part of me – I loved storytelling and fascinating visuals so much – my taste and niche was already naturally decided before I even dreamt of becoming one.

In the late 2019, I embarked on my journey to finesse and upskill myself with knowledge needed to toll this path. Afterwards, I both interned and officially worked in a couple of photo studios. I also worked with a renowned Nigerian urban native fashion brand on a creative director’s role. Then in. 2023 I officially launched my very own creative brand in photography, creative direction and interior design and ever since – I’ve been waxing stronger.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been all rosy quite frankly, working on the mobile basis that I do in a country like Nigeria has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. But I believe that once there’s motion towards one’s goal – then success and opportunities are not farfetched.

Currently my brand runs on mobile basis and without a permanent physical location and also rentals of equipments needed for every production, so it makes the creative process slower and stressful but I wouldn’t relent regardless.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a creative director, photographer and interior designer specializing in cinematic surrealism and luxury storytelling and minimalist precision.

My work focuses on world-building-creating dreamlike, architectural environments that place premium products at the center of a sophisticated narrative. Rather than just capturing a product, I aim to craft impossible juxtapositions that give a brand an avant-garde edge while maintaining a polished finish.

I handle full-scale creative direction and photography —from moodboarding, storyboarding, drafts, mockups, sketches to final executions—to ensure every frame and space feels like a piece of cinematic art.

I’m mostly proud of all I’ve been able to accomplish so far in the entire 8 years of my career; collaborating with brands, creative’s, and industry leaders in my zone and beyond.

What does success mean to you?
My definition of success is unconventional. Success for me is in the little wins of life. Things we have to learn everyday, life and work boundaries we have to set everyday, the people we meet and share our values, having innermost peace, loving myself, giving and receiving love. and finally all the career milestones.

That is how I define success.
