Today we’d like to introduce you to Mia Friday.
Hi Mia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up watching professional wrestling all my life with my dad. My favorite wrestler growing up was always John Cena! When I was 10 years old, my dad took me to Wrestlemania 32 in Dallas, TX. The moment that I watched Sasha Banks walk down that stage ramp is the moment I decided I wanted to wrestle for the rest of my life. Inspired by the women’s evolution in WWE, I became fully engulfed in professional wrestling and knew there was nothing else I wanted to do but wrestle. I started pro wrestling training at just 13 years old at the Lions Den Professional Wrestling Training Facility in Bryan, TX and wrestled my first match in front of an audience at just 14 years old. From then on, the rest is history. I traveled across the country, wrestling in states such as Iowa, California, North Carolina, Indiana, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arizona, Nevada, and Arkansas. At 17, I trained and performed in Japan with Ice Ribbon. At 18, I wrestled in the Bahamas. I graduated high school with my associates degree and I’m now pursuing my bachelors in Graphic Design while still traveling the world and winning championships!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely been a rough road. At 13 years old, I began training as the first girl to ever train at my school and the youngest as well. Being a young girl wrestling in a room with grown men was difficult but shaped me into the person that I am today. I struggled with proving that I’m equal, that I’m strong enough to wrestle with the guys and deserve to be in that ring wrestling with them. It’s been a long journey of growing up in front of the professional wrestling industry–I was the young, friendly girl that tried to be friends with everyone, but the pro wrestling business can be extremely cut-throat. I overcame betrayal and self-doubt to become the person I am today.

My professional wrestling character, Mia Friday, stands out from other pro wrestlers because of my fun and unique energy. I bring the “girlypop” to professional wrestling, known for doing “cutesy” moves to my opponents and winning! I earned the nickname “the lucha butterfly” because of my high flying, lucha libre-inspired style that is very rarely seen from other female wrestlers. I’m Mia Friday because Friday is the beginning of the weekend, Friday is PAYDAY, Friday is what everyone is looking forward to!
