Today we’d like to introduce you to Alondra Garza.
Hi Alondra, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am the face behind Alondra Garza CEM Realty LLC.
I am a first-generation Latina, raised by a single mother who came to the United States at just 20 years old, leaving behind her parents, siblings, and everything she had ever known in search of a better future.
Growing up, I learned responsibility at an early age. By the time I was nine years old, I was translating mail and important documents for my mom while also trying to be the best example I could for my younger sister. Because of my mom’s demanding work schedule, much of our childhood was spent with babysitters. While I understood the sacrifices she was making, those years also left me with feelings of loneliness and abandonment. One lesson, however, was always clear: Go to school and become someone.
I graduated from high school in 2013, but during my first year of college, I found out I was pregnant. The fear and disappointment I felt were overwhelming. My mom struggled to accept the news and didn’t speak to me for several months. Eventually, she came around, and through it all I made one promise to myself: becoming a mother would not stop me from pursuing my education.
My husband and I married shortly after, and this year we’re celebrating nearly 12 years of marriage. Together we’ve built a beautiful life and are raising our two incredible sons.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University while raising my growing family. By graduation, I had two little boys looking up to me, and that became my greatest motivation.
A year later, I began my career as a probation officer. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Every day, I’ve had the opportunity to work with people whose paths I may never have crossed otherwise. Helping others rebuild their lives has reinforced my belief that everyone deserves someone who believes in them.
As life became busier with work and my boys’ baseball schedules, I decided to pursue another dream that had been on my heart for years—real estate. While working full-time, I completed real estate school and earned my license. Within my first three months, I closed my first transaction, confirming that I had found another way to serve people.
Today, I proudly work with XSell Realty, where our mindset is simple: we don’t focus on problems we find solutions. Whether I’m helping someone navigate the justice system or guiding a family through one of the biggest purchases of their lives, my purpose remains the same: to serve, encourage, and create opportunities for others.
If my journey has taught me anything, it’s that there is no roadmap to success. Success isn’t handed to you, you have to be willing to chase it, even when the path is uncertain. I hope my story reminds others that your circumstances don’t define your future. With perseverance, faith, and hard work, you can build the life you’ve always imagined.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and honestly, I wouldn’t expect it to be. I grew up in a Mexican household where hard work wasn’t optional—it was expected. My mom did everything she could to provide for us, and from a young age I learned that nobody was going to come save me. If I wanted a different life, I had to build it myself.
There were plenty of moments when I doubted myself. I’ve balanced demanding careers, raised my boys, started over in real estate, and tried to build a business while still showing up for my family every day. Starting in an industry where you’re responsible for creating your own opportunities can be intimidating, especially when you don’t come from a family of entrepreneurs or have a blueprint to follow.
One of my biggest struggles has been letting go of the idea that I have to be perfect. I used to see setbacks as failures, but now I see them as lessons. Every obstacle has made me more resilient, more compassionate, and more determined.
Today, I know those challenges weren’t working against me—they were preparing me. They’ve shaped the woman, mother, and professional I am today. My goal isn’t just to create a better future for my own family, but to show my boys and others in my community that where you come from doesn’t have to determine where you’re going.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Real estate, to me, is about so much more than buying and selling homes it’s about helping people create stability, build wealth, and change the trajectory of their family’s future. As a REALTOR® serving the Greater Houston and Galveston County areas, I work with first-time homebuyers, growing families, and sellers who want someone they can trust to guide them every step of the way.
I specialize in making the home-buying process feel less overwhelming by educating my clients, advocating for them, and making sure they understand every decision they’re making. Whether it’s helping a first-time buyer navigate financing, working with Spanish-speaking families, or connecting clients with resources like down payment assistance programs, my goal is to make homeownership feel possible not intimidating.
What sets me apart is that I lead with education, authenticity, and relationships. I never want my clients to feel like they’re just another transaction. I take the time to listen to their goals, answer every question, and remain a resource long after closing day. My clients know they can call me for honest advice, and that trust is something I value deeply.
I’m especially proud of the brand I’ve built because it’s rooted in service, integrity, and community. As a first-generation Latina, I understand what it feels like to navigate unfamiliar systems without a roadmap. That perspective fuels everything I do. I want people to know that no matter where they come from or what their financial starting point looks like, homeownership can be within reach with the right guidance.
More than anything, I want my brand to be known for empowering people. If someone walks away from working with me feeling more confident, more informed, and excited about their future, then I’ve done my job.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that success isn’t about having all the answers it’s about having the courage to keep going even when you don’t. For a long time, I thought I had to be perfect before taking the next step. Over time, I realized that growth comes from being willing to learn, adapt, and keep showing up, even when things feel uncertain.
I’ve also learned that your background doesn’t define your future. As a first-generation Latina, there were many things I had to figure out on my own, and while that wasn’t always easy, it taught me resilience, resourcefulness, and perseverance. Those experiences have shaped not only how I run my business, but how I serve my clients.
Above all, I’ve learned that people will remember how you made them feel. In real estate and in life, relationships matter more than transactions. If you lead with integrity, genuinely care about people, and stay true to your values, success becomes about much more than business it’s about making a lasting impact on the lives of others.
