Lindsey, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been in industry for over 26 years now and have always taken the position of wanting to be the most advanced clinician I could be. I am a firm believer that continual lifelong learning is what is going to improve the dental profession and our delivery of care.
Over the years I noticed it became more challenging to acquire high-quality education. There were many times where I felt that after taking a continuing education course, I was left knowing all of the problems, but none of the solutions. There wasn’t a plan for implementation or it was just a push to purchase a product.
As a working mother, and seeing so many other dental professionals juggle very busy schedules, I took note of another common issue. It was hard to leave families and traveling to conferences became too expensive.
And the pressure of cost wasn’t just on me. I know many of our dental providers are being squeezed at the margins, and it is becoming harder and harder for them to offer educational advancement opportunities to their employees.

But collaborating with our industry’s leaders and dental professionals all across the country is so fulfilling. It is honestly my favorite part.

I’m really proud of the journey I’ve had. There are so many chapters that added to the last and supported the next. Looking back its really fulfilling to see how my career has evolved overtime. I am a lot of things; a wife, mother, clinical dental hygienist, educator, advocate for the profession, business owner, president of NMDHA our dental hygiene state association, and the dental hygiene program director for the University of New Mexico.
I’m most proud that I’ve built my career with my family beside me, not behind me. If my colleagues and my two daughters take anything from watching me, I hope it’s this: think big, and go for it!
