Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Tarrant.
Hi Tiffany, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story is truly a full circle moment. I now have the privilege of serving as the senior pastor of the very church that helped shape me into the woman I am today. My parents first walked through the doors of St. Johns when I was seven years old, and because my mom was the children’s pastor, church quickly became a second home. I know many pastor’s kids have different experiences, but I was one of the few who genuinely loved being there because I recognized early on that St. Johns was a safe place where I could grow, belong, and encounter God. Under the leadership of Pastors Rudy and Juanita Rasmus, I was poured into through children’s ministry, youth ministry, and countless opportunities to serve. In 2011, I accepted God’s call on my life, and in 2013, I became the youth pastor. After serving in that role for two years, I stepped into the position of lead campus pastor. Transitioning from leading students to shepherding adults stretched me in ways I never expected, but it was exactly what God used to prepare me for where I am today. Now, following in the footsteps of Pastors Rudy and Juanita as senior pastor is both a tremendous honor and a sacred responsibility. Their impact on this church and the surrounding community has created a legacy that cannot be measured. To now lead the church that loved me, raised me, challenged me, and helped me discover my calling is a blessing I never take for granted. It is a full circle story that reminds me of God’s faithfulness and His ability to prepare us for purposes we cannot always see in the beginning. I’m also a recent ordained elder in the united Methodist Texas annual conference.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This journey has not been without its challenges. In the beginning, I placed a great deal of pressure on myself because I was stepping into a role shaped by the incredible legacy of Pastors Rudy and Juanita Rasmus. I wanted to honor everything they had built while also discerning who God had called me to be as a leader. That meant learning to find my own voice, growing in confidence, and trusting that God had already equipped me for the assignment He had given me. Beyond that, every season of leadership brings the work of building and developing people. Cultivating a healthy leadership team, creating unity around a shared vision, and leading others through change has required patience, wisdom, and perseverance. Those experiences have stretched me, strengthened my faith, and reminded me that leadership is not about having all the answers but about faithfully following God one step at a time.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have had the privilege of serving as senior pastor for the past three years, and what brings me the most joy is who we are becoming as a church family. My hope is that every person who walks through our doors feels seen, loved, valued, and experiences the joy of Christ from the moment they arrive. I love seeing generations worship together, grow together, and genuinely build relationships with one another. Preaching and teaching God’s Word is one of my greatest passions. I want Scripture to be clear, practical, and relatable, so I often weave in humor, music, movies, and personal stories to help bring biblical truths to life. None of what we’re experiencing would be possible without an incredible leadership team, dedicated volunteers, and a congregation that is willing to serve, grow, and love well. It is truly an honor to lead a church that is thriving because so many people are committed to the mission of making disciples and building a community where everyone belongs.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the city of Houston and truly enjoy living here\. Its diversity is one of my favorite aspects, and being born and raised here has brought me so much joy\. I especially love the restaurants, as they give me the chance to enjoy great food with my friends\. There is always something to do and always a way to find something life\-giving, which makes the city feel vibrant and full of opportunity\. The only complaint I have is the traffic and the summer time heat.
