Hi shakendra, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
my name is shakendra , i go by ken or kendra
i’m 22 years old i was born in etx and raised in houston tx 3rdward tx to be exact.
i was raised by my grandma , and uncles on my father side of the family , me being raised by all them and being left to figure it all out on my own at 18 was one of the reason i have a mentality and so much structure & a strong mindset . my mom and dad side always had a altercation and some type of beef because of “ME” as a lil girl i was back and forth to etx & houston so that my mother could at least see me and i get to kno her but its like i was getting spoiled and being the only child was really amazing for me i didnt wanna live w my mother at my younger ages because my mother was going thru domestic violence…. so it was like my dad side of the family basically was telling me i didn’t have to go back . as i started getting older and it was getting worser as me going back w my mom my mom starting telling me that my dad wasn’t my dad ….. i ended up not caring about it too deep because the people she was saying nothing to me had already basically sponsored my whole life . til it was a time that whole side of the family was incarcerated so i didn’t have no choice but to go stay with my mom i was with her for 3 years tops those 3 years was rocky as ever , me and my mom stayed into it she was tryna basically brain wash me so i can stop thinking about the other family she was tryna make sure i had to contact with them or nothing . til one day my grandma was free from jail and she came and got me and when she came and got me stuff was rocky but she made sure i was straight. Months went by and one day i was driving my uncle car and i was stopped my the police they ran my name and told me i had a warrant and that i was labeled in the system as a run away …. they then told me like they was taking me to jail so that my mom could pick me up from the station or wtv and my grandma had to come and show proof that she been having me since i was 3 weeks old . they then had came and they let me go. my grandma is a hustler she would do anything to make sure her grandma kids have a wonderful christmas she don’t care if they was her grandma kids she was buy gifts for christmas for sure birthdays too , my grandma have diabetes very badly to where it took my grandmas eyesight around the time i graduated so it held me back from going to college because i had to take care of her , drive her around etc her kids wasn’t calling , her kids was helping let alone come see her and we had ended up moving back to the country it’s like everybody was for they self and left me to it …. those long days i was held back from what i wanted to do motivated me and really made me stronger made me grow up a lil faster because i was taking care of a 50 years old women and she was blind . she ended up getting her eyesight back like 3-4 months later she was able to get back on her feet walk on her own work on her own driver on her own ect … the way she handle things really made me realize that at the end of the day you the only 1 got you . after she got her eyesight sight back everything starting going back to normal i able to do what i needed to do but i just wasn’t able to go to college remind you i also was accepted into 3 colleges . my grandma is really my everything . i graduated in 2022 i started my lash business in 2021 i kept going i haven’t stopped yet i been a security guard since i was 18 when my grandma got incarcerated and left at 18 i had to move out that apartment and figure it out on my own til she was free again and it was like a repeated cycle now my grandma is in jail and im 22 with my own everything because i didn’t give up
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
it has not been a smooth rode i was homeless 2xs out of me trying to figure it out

i have a lash business i’m in the beauty industry. i been a lash tech for 5 years now iam known as the lash tech and content creator . what set em apart from others is i don’t care what nobody says about my work im still going and thriving and they still booking i offer wispy set , volume sets , wet sets , mega sets , i offer bottom lashes . i do deals on mondays and fridays .i also sell lash kits the link is in the bio on instagram @officallyken
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
my platforms are local and going crazy … i feel like by the end of 2026 im going to be where i wanna be or almost there i feel like im going to elevate and start being a traveling tech
