Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamara Gore.
Hi Tamara, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey really started in the tax industry. What began as learning how to prepare taxes eventually turned into something much bigger than I could have imagined. I realized early on that I didn’t just want to prepare tax returns—I wanted to build something of my own that could create opportunities, financial freedom, and a legacy for my family.
Building MaxTax Services was one of the biggest turning points for me. Like most entrepreneurs, I didn’t start with everything figured out. I had to learn the business side, build my clientele, market myself, stay consistent, and continue educating myself along the way. Every year taught me something different and pushed me to think bigger.
As my tax business grew, so did my vision. I began looking beyond simply preparing returns and started exploring other ways to grow as an entrepreneur, including training and mentoring others in the tax industry and expanding into real estate.
Today, success for me is about more than how much money I can make. It’s about creating financial freedom, building multiple streams of income, and creating something that can outlive me. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, but I also know I’m still building. There’s so much more I want to accomplish, and I’m excited about what’s next.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. A lot of what I know today came from trial and error. When I started, I didn’t have a blueprint or a client list handed to me. I had to learn the business, build my clientele from the ground up, market myself, and figure out what worked—and what didn’t—along the way.
There were times when things didn’t happen as quickly as I wanted them to, and I made mistakes that ultimately became some of my greatest lessons. One thing entrepreneurship has taught me is that consistency matters. You have to keep showing up, even when the results aren’t immediate.
Looking back, I’m grateful for those challenges because they helped shape the businesswoman I am today. They taught me to trust the process, continue learning, and never become too comfortable. I’m still learning and growing, but now I understand that every challenge is an opportunity to get better.
We’ve been impressed with MaxTax Services, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
MaxTax Services is more than a tax preparation company. We specialize in individual and small business tax preparation, tax education, and helping clients better understand their tax situation instead of simply handing them a number and sending them on their way.
One thing I believe sets MaxTax apart is the importance I place on education, compliance, and building genuine relationships with our clients. Taxes are not one-size-fits-all, and I want my clients to understand what is being filed on their behalf and why. I’ve worked hard to build a brand where people feel comfortable asking questions and know they are working with someone who genuinely cares about doing things the right way.
Over the years, my vision has also expanded into helping other tax professionals. Through training and mentorship, I’m able to share the knowledge and lessons I’ve gained through my own journey. I want people entering this industry to understand that there are so many opportunities beyond simply preparing tax returns. With the right education, consistency, and business mindset, the tax industry can become a pathway to entrepreneurship and financial freedom.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that MaxTax Services was built from the ground up. Every client, referral, lesson, mistake, and successful tax season has contributed to what the brand is today. I didn’t inherit a client list or walk into an established business—I built my reputation one client at a time.
When people hear MaxTax Services, I want them to think of professionalism, knowledge, integrity, and growth. Whether I’m helping a client with their taxes or teaching another tax professional how to build their own business, my goal is the same: provide the knowledge, resources, and support that can help people make better financial and business decisions.
And we’re still growing. What started as a tax preparation business has developed into a brand with a much bigger vision, and I’m excited for people to see what comes next.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I would definitely say consistency. I’ve learned that you don’t have to have everything figured out to be successful, but you do have to keep showing up. There have been times when business was great and times when things didn’t go exactly as planned, but I’ve always remained committed to learning, adjusting, and moving forward.
I’m also not afraid to learn through trial and error. If something doesn’t work, I don’t look at it as a failure—I look at it as a lesson and figure out what I can do differently the next time.
For me, success has really been about staying consistent, being willing to evolve, and remembering why I started. I truly believe that if you keep putting in the work, even when no one is watching, eventually the results will speak for themselves.
