Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Sowell.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m Sowell! Music has honestly been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a family of vocalists, singing in church, pageants, and local events in my hometown Houston, Texas, so I was always surrounded by music. Over time, what started as a passion naturally became something I knew I wanted to pursue as a career.
Eventually, I moved to Los Angeles to study music, and that’s where I really started discovering myself as an artist. Outside of class, I began collaborating with other creatives, writing songs, and experimenting with my own sound. This led to my introduction in songwriting which opened doors for new opportunities with other creatives. I realized I could take things I was feeling or experiencing and turn them into something other people could connect to.
I’m performing, releasing singles, connecting with my community, and putting the pieces together for my next project. I’m still becoming and figuring things out as I go, but I think that’s what makes this chapter so special. I’m so excited to share my music and my story with listeners on major platforms all over the world!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Life has never been “easy” for any creative. As artists we use the pain and struggles life offers and make art. As i’ve stated, i come from a long line of grassroots talent. So one of my earliest struggles was accepting that my voice was special and my dreams were worthy of pursuing. This helped strengthen my determination at a young age. Since then, I’ve been able to pull from that same bravery to push through, “almost opportunities’, bad contracts, ugly encounters and more. This business aint always the friendliest or most forgiving, but the lessons i chose to learn from have protected me! While the lessons personalized tend to scar.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’d consider myself a music and creative enthusiast , my current medium and passion is writing and performing alternative R&b and pop music. I’d say thats what i’m most known for! Aside from fashion, and philanthropic efforts. My dream is to become an ultimate entertainer. Someone who creates music as an extension of myself, that can inspire and relate on a global scale. What sets us all apart is our own experiences and how we interpret life’s purpose. I’m most proud of my individualism, personal resilience, and my ability to connect through songwriting. Music has and will live in me through every phase of my life. I’m proud to be growing doing something i love!
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I haven’t yet had the pleasure of experiencing an individual as a industry mentor figure, But iv’e have great advocates that have guided me in phases along the way.
Names like Tim&Bob, Max Gousse, Monica Payne, Andre Troutman, and Stevie J, will always hold a special place in my heart. They were the people that saw my talent first in its most raw form. The names i’d give flowers to in this current phase are Justin Brown (A&R) and Paris Lofton (management). They are the ones keeping me grounded and focused on the next song, stage and opportunity!
Lastly, i wanna give myself some credit! There is no machine or cheat code, just trial, error and consistent hard work!
