Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregory Joseph.
Gregory, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It starts during my junior year at Lamar High School. I was in between two creative pursuits, piano and videography. During such time I was apart of the schools Cable Television Station which allowed me to get an idea of what the professionals do (albeit on a high school level) which sparked my creativity ventures.
How I got here to where I am today was through a guantlet of trial and error. They always say you have to learn the rules so you can break them later which to me meant that before I do just whatever, I need to know why it is I am doing such things.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Creativity is never a linear path especially when you take on the challenge of creating a business out of it. There is this balance of having to feed the creative person that lives inside of you and understanding that sometimes you are choosing between feeding that person and getting paid for your work.
Starving Artists is that for a reason.
We’ve been impressed with Gregory Joseph Photography , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Gregory Joseph Photography was birthed out of a desire to put my name on everything I do creative wise. The work that I present to the world (good, bad or indifferent) is one where I am proud to stand behind.
I think what sets me apart from the rest is I want people who steps in front of my camera to leave knowing that they have also created something that they are proud of and can stand behind.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I think that everyone has a story to tell, whether it is about their own personal experience or something that they created and wanted to see come to life. My main mission is to inspire others to create stories whether written or visual. Telling stories is how we can help shape the world to make it a better place for others.
