Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Williams.
Joe, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story begins with 29 years in the United States Army, where I served as a First Sergeant before retiring. Twenty-nine years of leading soldiers, running operations, and learning what it takes to execute reliably under pressure.
But my Dynasty story really begins after the Army. I spent the next 15 years in enterprise IT, most of it at CHI St. Luke’s Health here in Houston, working in Epic and Citrix and clinical desktop support. I retired from that career in May 2025.
By that point, I had watched artificial intelligence go from a curiosity to something my healthcare peers were quietly deploying to compress work. I understood systems, and I understood the small-business owners in my Pearland community who were drowning in operational work because they didn’t have the systems layer.
Dynasty Management Group Corporation was my move into that gap. From there, three more businesses grew — Dynasty Digital Ventures for AI tools and templates for small business owners, SignaFlex Mobile Notary Services for Greater Houston, and Dynamic Home Quest for real estate. Four businesses now, one operating discipline, all Pearland-based.
The through-line is the same as it was in the Army: build systems that let you deliver reliably at scale, no matter who’s on the line.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, and I’d be lying if I said otherwise.
The biggest challenge has been transitioning from operator inside large organizations — where I always had a team, a budget, and clear command chains — to founder of small businesses where I *am* the team.
Three specific challenges stand out.
First, learning to say no. In the Army and in IT, taking on more was almost always the right move. As a founder, saying yes to every opportunity is how businesses die from scope creep before they ever generate revenue.
Second, the certifications and paperwork. Getting SDVOSB certified with the SBA, Texas HUB certified with the state, Port Houston SBE/MBE certified, and SAM.gov registered for federal contracting — every step took months, revised submissions, and a lot of patience. The systems for helping veteran-owned businesses navigate this are real, but they’re not fast.
Third, and this is the one I don’t hear talked about enough: building a Christian family business while running four different industry verticals is a genuine time-and-energy challenge. My family comes first. My faith comes first. That means some Fridays end at 5 PM whether I feel done or not, and some Thursdays are entirely dedicated to family. Every founder has to define their non-negotiables. Mine cost some potential revenue. They also protect the reason I’m doing this in the first place.
As you know, we’re big fans of Dynasty Management Group Corporation . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Dynasty is a family of four Pearland-based businesses serving Greater Houston.
Dynasty Management Group Corporation (DMG) is our federal contracting arm — SDVOSB certified, Texas HUB certified, Port Houston SBE/MBE certified. We serve federal, state, and municipal agencies through professional services, administrative consulting, and program management.
Dynasty Digital Ventures (DDV) is our small business AI product line. Our flagship is the AI Business Accelerator Vault — 300+ tested prompts organized in a Notion template that small business owners can deploy in fifteen minutes. We just launched a content repurposing service that helps solo operators keep their marketing consistent across every social platform without hiring a marketing team.
SignaFlex Mobile Notary Services is our mobile notary business — Monday through Friday, across Greater Houston, with flexible early and late hours. We just launched a full apostille service for clients handling international documents. Every SignaFlex line is answered 24/7 by our AI receptionist, so no lead is ever missed.
Dynamic Home Quest is our residential real estate acquisitions arm — helping homeowners with off-market situations that traditional listings don’t fit.
What makes Dynasty distinct isn’t any one business. It’s that the same operating discipline runs through all four. Fourteen AI teammates on the bench handle the volume; one operator makes the decisions. That’s how a solo founder runs four businesses without losing the plot.
Every client — whether they need a notary at their kitchen table, a federal capability statement, or an AI Notion template — gets served the same way: on time, with the paperwork right, and with a real human standing behind the work.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Mentorship changed the trajectory of every phase of my life.
In the Army, mentorship was structured. Progressive Non-Commissioned Officer schools formalized it. Senior NCOs and officers taught me operations, leadership, and how to hold a standard under pressure. I learned as much from watching how they handled bad days as from anything they said.
Post-military, mentorship became something I had to seek out on purpose. Nobody assigns you a mentor when you leave the service. The advice I would give a new founder or a new networker is the same advice I had to learn the hard way.
Be specific about what you actually need. “Can you be my mentor” is too vague and puts the whole burden on the other person. “Can I ask you three questions about how you got your first federal contract” gets a yes almost every time. Real mentors help operators who know what they are trying to solve.
Join communities where the mentors already are. For me in Greater Houston, that has meant the Tri-County Regional Black Chamber of Commerce, the Bethel Business Network, the University of Houston APEX Accelerator, and the Texas VetHUB forum. Every one of those rooms has people three steps ahead of where I am and generous with their time. Show up consistently. Do not just show up when you need something.
Follow up. Most people never send the thank-you email. Most people never share the outcome of the advice they got. When you do, you become memorable, and that is when the relationship actually starts.
Mentor someone else while you are being mentored. The moment you start teaching what you know, you learn it deeper, and you attract other mentors who want to teach people who already teach.
I have to name two people who shaped this journey. Colonel Tom Ritz, my former commander in Afghanistan, still shapes how I think about leadership and accountability at Dynasty. Locally, Leondria Thompson at the Tri-County Regional Black Chamber of Commerce has been generous with introductions and honest guidance during my transition into business ownership. Great mentors do not always look like the polished figures on business podcasts. Sometimes they look like a chamber president who forwards you a lead, or a retired officer who still returns your calls.
