Today we’d like to introduce you to Leyla.
Hi Leyla, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
A lot has changed since my last interview with you guys. I came to the U.S. after years of performing in Azerbaijan, appearing on The Voice and Got Talent, singing for the FIFA World Cup, and unexpectedly building an online audience through ventriloquism. At the time, I was still figuring out what this new chapter of my life would look like.
Since then, I’ve focused more on creating my own music and growing as an independent artist. In 2026, I also created Lydia, an all-female international band made up of musicians from different backgrounds. Building Lydia has given me a completely different creative experience while I continue developing my solo work as Leyla Tina.
Right now, I’m especially excited about my new song, “Still Stuck There,” growing Lydia, and releasing more original music. I’m still figuring out where everything will lead, but I feel much more certain about what I want to create and where I want to take my music next.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not. One of the hardest parts was moving to the U.S. after already having built a life and a name for myself in Azerbaijan. I had years of performing experience and accomplishments I was proud of, but here I had to introduce myself all over again and accept that progress wasn’t always going to happen as quickly as I wanted.
There were also periods where I questioned whether I was going in the right direction, especially when comparing where I was to where I thought I should be. I’ve had to learn to stop measuring progress only by big moments and appreciate the smaller ones too.
I think the biggest lesson has been learning to be patient without becoming passive. I can accept that things take time while still continuing to create, perform, meet people, and put myself in situations that can lead somewhere new.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work is mainly centered around singing, songwriting, and performing. As Leyla Tina, I’m focused on creating original music that feels personal to me, and right now I’m especially excited about my new song, “Still Stuck There.”
I’m also really proud of creating Lydia in 2026, an all-female international band made up of women from different backgrounds. I love being able to have that collaborative side of my creativity while still developing my own identity and music as Leyla Tina.
More than any single accomplishment, I’m proud that I’ve continued finding new ways to create and perform without feeling like I have to fit into one specific box.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
A fun fact about me is that music is only one part of what I do. Alongside my full-time job and my work as an artist, I also create video content and do AI coaching on the side. I genuinely enjoy learning new things and finding creative ways to use technology, so somehow I always end up with multiple projects happening at once.
It can definitely get chaotic, but I think I actually enjoy that. I like having different creative outlets, meeting people from completely different fields, and never feeling like I have to be only one thing.
