Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerri Beasley.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Jerri P Beasley and as a child my desire was to always be famous, I would see people on television and hear DJ’s on the radio and knew I was meant to be there!! I would sit in the mirror and practice doing interviews with invisible celebrities 😂 So there you have it, me being in media started as a childhood fantasy that never left my mind. I now realize my desire to be famous was really God’s desire for me to have influence to use for His purpose
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, my path to being a media professional, was not a smooth one because I had some challenges in college, I was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder my junior year and my dreams and hard work being a communications major all seemed to come to a crashing halt, but by the grace of God and a supportive family , I was able to overcome that challenge and continued pursuing and possessing my dream of being in Radio and Television
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am the COO of the oldest Black Radio station in Houston Texas known as kcoh , I am also the Morning Drive Host of The Keep The Morning Moving Morning show with Jerri P Beasley, what sets me apart from others is that I’m free to use my faith and creativity to produce shows that are focused on Motivation, Information and Empowerment. I also was given the privilege of being a White House Correspondence under the Biden and Harris administration.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I never sought a mentor but a few have found me along the way when I really needed it, I’m a firm believer in following the path that God has placed me on and as I go, what I need and who I need will always show up. That train of thought has not failed me yet in my over 35 years in the Media Industry.
