Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Arceneaux.

Hi Marcus, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
“broken wings heal in time”
I am a dreamer I am pain I am hope I am ART.
So I’m from Hiram Clarke Texas, the baby sibling of 4. I was always the wild one and rebellious one out of the bunch. Unfortunately I was only one who didn’t finish college, I was the one who did something’s I’m not proud of to get money, however I had to get it. I always knew I could draw and stuff but never thought I would be where I am now from my artwork. I was maybe 22 or 23
I lost my job from harris county as a detention officer for XYZ reason. I went outside smoking a black and mild and talking to God. I asked God what’s my purpose in this world, why am I here
What can I do to bring joy and pride to my last name versus embarrassment and hurt to my family.
He answered
3 months later I had my first exhibition in New York. My mom was my biggest fan
She always encouraged me to keep creating. I did 12 pieces for my first exhibition
The one that sold was called “Shattered Dreams”. I never looked back. Instead me hating the reflection in the mirror things started to shift and began to love that man I was facing. Art saved my life.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One main struggle I had was honestly just embracing myself whole heartedly. I was a prisoner of my mind for many years and no one ever noticed. I’m a Pisces I be in my own world all the time, just never fully loved who I was for different reasons of course. I had to ignore the noise with
I’m not good enough
Oh just give up art and go do this and that
But honestly I can do it all as long as I can continue to create I’m good and I’m at peace. I always questioned if my story was worthy but as looked into other artist like basquiat I was like wow
I experienced a lot of the same things and struggles as the greats before me. So
Why isn’t my story good enough.
My obstacle was
Getting out of Marcus way and allowing myself to grow heal be loved and be worthy of everything God has plan for me
