Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucy Salinas.
Lucy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The beauty industry has been my passion and all I’ve known after working at well-known salons in Houston and MAC Cosmetics, I decided to go on my own and started freelancing. A lot of people don’t realize that’s how my business LS Studio got started thru makeup, weddings and private group lessons. I decided to dive into the world of hair color and opened my salon in 2012. It’s been an interesting rollercoaster and an experience that I’m very grateful for as my journey develops and I embark in changing the direction of my business I hope to inspire people to follow their flow and dare to make decisions based not on what everyone around them would think but from a place of inner guidance
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would defiantly say, the business side of it has been where I had to adjust and learn along the way the most the beautiful artistic side of things seemed to come easier. However, I realize now that business is an art being an entrepreneur is being an artist putting things together in a way where they make sense, flow, maintain and makeup money while keeping people interested is an art. I used to say, I’m a stylist/makeup artist but now is where my story begins I am an entrepreneur in the beauty industry.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
At the moment we offer hair color haircutting services as well as extensions and makeup services. We are going thru some changes right now that will be evident as you follow us thru our social media platforms. I am the proudest of how far I’ve come and how much I’ve changed. My salon has transformed me in ways I never taught I could be transformed it’s giving me the confidence I never knew I could have. I believe what sets me apart is the availability to be able to look at someone and know exactly what looks good on them based on their skin tone and face shape as well as for events for makeup and styling I am well rounded and anyone that is trained under me will be as well.
What were you like growing up?
Well people always tell me I’m funny but I don’t know I mean I like to have fun while I’m doing things you know to enjoy life by being present in what I’m doing which can be difficult at times but I manage to do it. Growing up, I was always very ambitious. I remember even as a little girl, I wanted to accomplish so much, which I think it’s a good thing, right! I mean, I like to believe, I’m here for a reason, you know for a purpose and being ambitious helps me go for it.
