Art & Life with Clear Mind

Today we’d like to introduce you to Clear Mind.

Clear Mind is a multifaceted, American street artist whose works depict images of strong women from early human societies. Her work is known for its use of saturation and hue and her signature hybrid dragonfly Hummingbird.

Having come from a long line of women artists, Clear combines her mother’s affinity for drawing large predatory cats and her grandmother’s fondness of creating photorealism portraits of Native American culture. Clear works hard to honor these matriarchs of her past who continue to heavily inspire her works. She celebrates their womanhood through large-scale aerosol portraits, watercolor, and acrylic paintings depicting strength, confidence, and femininity.

Clear Mind made her public artist debut creating large-scale murals in Houston continues to breakthrough different art mediums pushing herself to new avenues.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Water color and acrylic canvas, murals using spray paint.

I hope people can draw power and inspiration from my works. I don’t feel an image needs to be a literal depiction of what you are trying to convey. The most satisfying feeling is to illicit emotion and spark passion within fellow artists and other creatives to produce their best works.

Do you think conditions are generally improving for artists? What more can cities and communities do to improve conditions for artists?
I have only been a part of the Houston Art community since 2012 and in those few years I have seen the walls of my beautiful city light up with color. With the rise of street art and graffiti popularity, I think artist’s in our city are receiving funding easier now for larger murals in areas that you would not have seen 20 years ago. Houston is a powerhouse of amazing artists and I hope the world gets to see the immense amount of talent she holds.
We should support our local artists by buying their work and funding their projects. A mural is a selfie hot spot, A power mural can bring people from all over the world just to take pictures in front of it which would also fuel more money into local businesses around the mural.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I have a few murals up right now.
