Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathy Haas.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a photographer that has been in business for 10 years. I just this year got certified, which is a big deal in the photography world. As far as angle, I’m not sure. I have slowed down on doing weddings because I have an aerial contract that has to be done every Thursday providing the weather is good. If Thursday rains then we have to do it on Friday or Saturday. So, it would be difficult to schedule a wedding and the weather did not cooperate. I do a lot of newborns, High school seniors, families, corporate head shots.
The secret service has also cleared me a few years back, as the official photographer for the Tomball’s 100th year birthday, we passed background checks with flying colors and took pictures of the former president George Bush sr. as he celebrated Tomball’s centennial with us.
I am a Network Texas board member, a May 2012 graduate from Leadership North Houston, a Tomball Chamber of Commerce ambassador for which I received ambassador of the year award in 2009, a member of Tomball Business and Professional women’s association, Professional Photographers of America, and Texas Professional Photographers Association. I donate my time and portraits to Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. a nonprofit organization that offers the gift of free professional portraits to families suffering the loss of an infant or baby.
I love interacting with people — and, to borrow a word MasterCard made famous – the way they respond when they first see their pictures is “priceless”. When I get emotion, I know I have done a great job.
Whether I am snapping pets, babies, families, graduates, grandparents or executives: whether I am at a wedding, birthday, retirement, festival or community event, it’s a downright privilege to be invited into people’s lives. To capture breathtaking moments, to watch a story unfold frame by frame, to be able to tell a tale when words sometimes fail….is truly an honor.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been really smooth. I really feel networking is the key. Word of mouth is my best advertisement.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
What sets me apart is not only quality but we have fun. Most people especially men don’t like to get their pictures taken. I make sure that they have fun experience and don’t dread coming back and doing it again.
Clients in every industry seek out credentialed professionals, as the public recognizes certification as a sign that one is an authority in the field. A CPP designation offers potential clients an assurance, not just of quality, but of technical skill and artistic expertise.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Our city is great for potential.
