Today we’d like to introduce you to Deidre Chisholm.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Deidre. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Master Cosmetologist for 25 years, I started in NYC as a hairstylist. In 2010 became an RN. Jean Andrew Hair founded in 2014 to address women hairloss. My clients suffer from hereditary hairloss, Trichotilomania, Alopecia and traumatic scalp injuries. Each technique is non-surgical and tailored to the lifestyle of each client. My services have an obvious visual result but they also affect the emotional and mental health of each client. I really love being a hair loss specialist. I now accept Medical Insurance for hair replacement units.
Has it been a smooth road?
Not smooth but every obstacle has been a learning experience for me and my clients. In particular marketing to clients that truly need my services. Everyone isn’t on social media. Building relationships with MD’s and hospitals is a struggle but as I’m in business longer that should be less difficult.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Jean Andrew Hair story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in a customized cranial prosthesis. My clients are professional women experiencing hair loss. Their not looking for cosmetic dramatic wigs. I’m able to provide hairpieces that are very natural and appropriate for the professional work environment. My approach as an RN/Cosmetologist is very different from other stylists. I consider medications, health issues, allergies, and lifestyle when servicing my clients. I understand the significance of each as it relates to their cosmetic needs.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see more stylist transitioning back to traditional salons opposed to working in suites.
