Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie and Kathy.
Kathy and I worked together at a dental office for a few years and had always wanted to start a “side-hustle” together and use our creative minds in our off-time. We came across these big balloons online and were immediately drawn to the concept. We quickly jumped into the business in August of 2015 and start working on it religiously at night and on the weekends. We wanted to make sure our name was memorable and funny, so with the help of fantastic marketing/branding experts in our life (Thanks Tri and Cody), the very literal “Big ASS Balloons (BABs)” brand and website were born. Within a few weeks, we scored our very first customer (a friend of ours who actually paid! – Thanks Kate).
Our first few orders were very experimental, to say the least. We spent many many months perfecting our craft to the amazing products you see today. Since the beginning, we have created and delivered over 11,000 custom BABs all over Houston and the surrounding cities, and most recently, the Dallas/Forth Worth area. We have had the absolute best luck in people joining our team. They are all creatives on their own time and do BABs in their spare time. Having creatives on your team is an absolute dream and one of the many reasons we have been able to grow so rapidly. We have a team of 9 people currently and are still expanding and needing more people to join the BAB family. Balloons are classic and will always be a party favorite, adding customization and delivery just tops the cake! We plan to be around for your grandkids, grandkids folks and have BIG plans for the future, so stay tuned! – Katie
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not at all! We’ve learned everything from creating a website to an LLC and from making our product top-quality to figuring out the social media frenzy! We’ve had too many struggles to count, but you have to struggle to learn and you have to learn to become the best at what you do.

We specialize in the BIG Ass 36″ Balloons (BABs) and customize them (colors, tassels, confetti, prints, accessories, etc.) and deliver them straight to your door. Our BABs provide SO much extra fun to any party, event, special occasion or just your average Tuesday/just because. It’s very common to only order BABs for your decor and nothing else – they make that BIG of a statement. We are proud of the quality of our product and promptness in our delivery. We are also proud of our creativity and the help we provide many of our customers that have no idea what to order to make their event bigger and better! We are extremely trustworthy and always make sure our customers are fully taken care of. To pat our own backs, we also have a full 5-star rating on Yelp, Facebook, and Google. 😉
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Continuing to grow the Houston and Dallas markets until every baby and grandpa knows our name and expansion to other Texas cities.
