Today we’d like to introduce you to Aimee Fuller.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Aimee. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started Aimee Fuller Photography in January 2010 after portfolio building for 2 years prior in 2008. I have always been a photographer, starting at the age of 8 when I received my first film camera from my grandfather as a birthday gift. I studied photography in private elementary school, middle school and high school, working on the yearbook staff as a photographer. As an adult, I continued to love photography always having a passion for capturing life around me.
My passion for newborn baby photography began after I delivered my first son, Jacob, after 4.5 years of infertility, miscarriages and a very high-risk pregnancy. I put my passion for new life into my work and learned all I could about newborns and the art of newborn photography. My passion grew as hardships in my life occurred, specifically the unexpected loss of my mother in 2010 right after I started my business. I concentrated and focused on building my business and being the best in the industry to set myself apart from all the competition in the area. As years progressed, my client base was built on word of mouth from clients and a dream became a reality very quickly.
I have had the honor and privilege of photographing many celebrity babies and the only all-girl quintuplets born in the United States, the Busby Quintuplets. I have been featured on Channel 13 where I was dubbed “The Baby Whisperer” by Christyn Dobbyn and clients that were interviewed for the feature story. I have also been featured on the TLC hit show OutDaughtered photographing the Busby Quintuplets as newborn babies. As life has progressed for me, I continue to strive to be the best in the industry and work hard to capture the best images of all the newborn clients that come in.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t always been easy. I think that every business owner will share that you put your whole self into your business. I have worked long, hard hours at my studio developing a system for my work and enabling myself to be the best I can be for my clients on a daily basis. I take my work very seriously and have put my whole soul into my business model and work.
The most dramatic hurdles for me during the past 10 years of building a successful business were losing my Mom suddenly in February of 2010 right after I started my business. The loss helped me focus and concentrate on my passion for newborns to grow and successfully build my business because it helped heal me from the sudden devastating loss of my mother.
Then in 2013, my Dad suffered a debilitating stroke and again I leaned on my work and concentrated on continuing to be the best newborn photographer in Houston while balancing caring for him and making sure he was kept comfortable after his stroke.
Unfortunately and sadly, he continued to deteriorate and suffer for 5 years, recently passing away in February 2018. It was a very sad time for my family, but I continued to find strength and passion in my work!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Aimee Fuller Photography – what should we know?
I specialize in Maternity, Newborn and Babies (up to a year) Photography. I am known locally as the Baby Whisperer. The title, “The Baby Whisperer”, was given to me by my clients while watching me work with their babies. I am known for my newborn baby photography best. I am most proud of my accomplishments in the newborn baby photography industry, being recognized by photography magazines and receiving awards along the way. I have worked hard to build my business and be the best at my craft.
I believe what sets me apart from other newborn photographers is my drive, passion and love for the art of newborn photography. I have an ingrained passion for newborn photography. My work feels like something that is just deep in my soul that I really live for every day! On top of my passion, I have an assistant that equally loves working with babies and together we both strive to maintain and give our clients the best customer service. I really pride myself on becoming friends with clients and maintaining a relationship with them as their babies grow.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I always give first and foremost all the praise to God and my faith for helping me realize and build on my passion for newborn photography. Second, my Husband, Kevin, who has always believed in me and encouraged me to build a business based on a dream, a passion and love for something that might not have become anything, but did and it’s all because of him that I am here today.
He has been my biggest fan, my strongest cheerleader and my confidant along the way. Then, my family & close friends because they have always been the first people to share my information with people and spread the word about me. They were always there to tell me I was the best even when I might not have really been the best. I’m appreciative to all my clients as well because without them and their reviews, referrals and bookings with me, I would not be here today!
