Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanida Vongsamphanh.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My journey leading up to the opening of The Escape Game Houston has been a fun one! I started as a Game Guide in 2015 at our flagship store in Nashville, TN. In late June 2015, moved to our Pigeon Forge location for two months to help train and hire for that location. I then moved back to Nashville for one month to help open our second location in town before moving to Austin as the Assistant Manager for TEG Austin.
In the summer of 2016, I was promoted to General Manager of Austin and in December 2017, I moved back to Nashville for almost two months to train with my new launch team for Houston! We all moved to Houston in January 2018 and have been working hard ever since. Our grand opening for The Escape Game Houston was April 3rd, 2018. It’s our ninth store nationwide, and we’ve loved getting to know the Houston community.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We had a few bumps in the road trying to launch our business in Houston. It was originally scheduled to be one our first five stores, but it took a couple of years to get the perfect space in the perfect place in the city. We had our ups and downs with construction, but nothing we couldn’t handle! We spent a lot of time making sure everything was perfect for our guests so it was worth the wait.

Our team is very intentional about everything we do, down to the smallest details, because we want every game to be an amazing experience. We are looking forward to serving even more guests here in Houston!
