Arushi, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my blogging journey after the birth of my son two years back. Sharing our special moments and memories on my Instagram page @the_snazzy_mom became a weekly affair. I shared my honest mama moments, daily anecdotes, fitness regimen, baby care tips and everything that is me. Gradually, my story resonated with fellow moms across the globe and within few months, I saw growth on my account and blog. I made sure to respond to all messages and mails from my followers and hear them out. This was a small community I was building of like-minded people and honestly, there has been no stopping since then. I am glad to be an influence for thousands of young women and new moms. We all need to learn and grow with each other. After all, we are raising the world’s future.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Honestly, I never looked at my Instagram growth and blog as a full-time involvement as I am immersed in my day job completely and of course my mom duties. My blog and IG are my creative outlet where I share my story and life through my lens, in hopes to inspire, help and educate whoever I can.
However, I have understood one thing that, to be relatable you need to share your wins and losses, your gains and shortfalls, you need to be honest and true to who you are and only then will people love following your journey. Instagram is very competitive, plus the algorithm changes can affect your engagement for weeks. With blogging, you need to be steady and share valuable content to grow it and use it as a platform to make an income.
I am not very consistent with blogging as it is very time taking and my routine doesn’t allow me. I will like to recommend the readers of this article to work on your blog and social media consistently to grow and monetize it. There are some great courses out there where you can learn the trade. And one thing I believe that is working for a lot of bloggers is Pinterest. I haven’t been able to focus on it.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into @the_snazzy_mom – Instagram story. Tell us more about the business.
I work full time for a TV station in NYC in Ad Sales and marketing, I believe I am very good at what I do and that is why I enjoy my job a bit too much. I have been in this industry for over a decade now and have understood in depth on how clients, brands want to share their message with the customers/audiences be it through digital or TV communication.
I have been able to leverage my professional experience to work with brands on Instagram and partner with them to create exciting content. I share daily inspiration on fitness, motherhood, lifestyle, etc. I don’t like stick to a niche because I have several aspects to my personality and in order to be true to who I am and share my honest stories, I share everything that is a reflection of my life on my blog and Instagram. This is what sets me apart and I guess that is why I have had the opportunity to work with brands from so many different industries.
For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
There are so many opportunities for women out there. We have to find them and hunt them and all the hard work behind them will pay off sooner or later. The hustle is real and we have to stay focused to move forward. I encourage my friends, peers, and followers to continue to do what they do best and believe in their strengths. Things will happen when they are supposed to, we just need to have our goals in front of our eyes and prioritize accordingly.
