Today we’d like to introduce you to Chigozie Ohanele.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Chigozie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story like many others is a story of Gods unconditional love, grace, self discovery and finding my purpose through pain.
Growing up I didn’t think I had any talents but I knew I loved taking care of people so I chose a path in healthcare. I got a Bachelors of Science in Biology and in Nursing before going to Johns Hopkins University where I received my Masters in Nursing as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. As a healthcare provider I enjoyed connecting with patients and caring for them holistically, but I also learned about the power of mindset and how it determines our emotions, experiences and reality.
I also knew I wanted to one day be my own boss and help people on a larger scale but in my own unique way. It was always a goal of mine to have my own practice first but God had other plans.
A few years ago while working with a Private Practice I became sick. I was getting overworked and did not prioritize time to take care of myself so I ended up in the hospital fighting for my life. While in that hospital, I took the time to reflect on my life and made a promise to God that when I got out, I was going to do the work to figure out my true purpose in life and make sure that my lifestyle, career and business were in alignment with him and this purpose for my life.
After going back to God for strength and direction, I started my clothing line (3reeC’s – Chic Creations & Collections) and then my blog (Chigi’s World) which later transformed to my Lifestyle & Consulting Brand. I found my purpose in helping women find their voice and their own purpose, so they to can transform their mindset, look and feel their best self while creating a successful business that makes a great impact on their community.
I truly believe that we were all created for a purpose and God will use everyone of us and everything good, bad and ugly we’ve experienced to do amazing things, if we just have a sincere relationship with him, stay connected to him and trust in his love and grace so his power can flow through us.
I also believe that women can have it all and we are so much stronger if we collaborate and support each other as we journey through life. Also, my goal is to show women how to build a sisterhood and how to maximize our potential so we can make maximum impact using our talents, knowledge, skills, experiences and resources to live a happy, healthy, balanced, fulfilled, flexible and financially free life with style, grace and purpose.
In addition, I’m working on a new platform to empower women to share their stories and showcase their gifts with The Modern Woman’s Network and I’ll be transforming my IG Live Interview series “Behind the Magic” into a Podcast to share principles, strategies and resources that everyday people like us used, to create successful brands and become world changers.
Has it been a smooth road?
I initially struggled with finding purpose, direction, getting clarity on what to do and feeling worthy, qualified or comfortable to do it. I also had challenges finding my place in the world and at the same time find my tribe. My journey hasn’t always been easy, but I’m grateful for all my experiences because it has shaped me and made me stronger and more resourceful:
1. You have a unique combination of talents, knowledge, skills, experience, and resources and this is your superpower. Do the work to identify these things and use them to make an impact in your community.
2. Learn to focus on your faith and the facts that you are beautiful, brilliant and a total loss at what you do and the fears, doubts, and insecurities will fade away. Those negative emotions are not real, they only exist in your mind so don’t give it life and don’t magnify them by focusing on it. Focus on the good, positive and blessings to stay in a constant state of gratitude.
3. Focus on progress over perfection. Focus on obedience and showing up authentically and consistently to do what you are meant to do, and God takes care of the process and the outcome.
4. Your mindset and beliefs determine your emotions, your experiences, and your reality so if you don’t like something about your life, change your mindset about it and change the situation.
5. Whenever you feel negative emotions like fear, anxiety, sadness, pain or you get stressed and overwhelmed, it’s a sign for you to pause, refocus, reconnect and realign with God, yourself, your purpose and the people you’ve been called to serve.
