Today we’d like to introduce you to Nic Bartell.
Nic, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We opened our doors in late 2011 with the purpose of bringing pure authentic Moy Yat lineage Ving Tsun to Houston. We wanted to create an environment and a place where adults could train serious martial arts and learn to defend themselves and make their minds and bodies stronger in the process. Our school doesn’t have a children’s program and we are not trying to teach a bunch of different flavors or styles of martial arts to try and suit what we do to everyone else. We teach pure VT Wing Chun and our doors are open to anyone who wishes to learn an authentic non-tournament based martial art.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Lucky for us, our growth has been slow and steady. We have had quite a few students over the years. It always seems the hardest thing to deal with in our town is just the traffic…
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Moy Tung Kung Fu Academy and Martial Arts Center – what should we know?
We are proud to teach authentic Ving Tsun in Houston. We specialize in martial arts for adults who want to be healthier, happier, and stronger. We teach our students to be able to handle themselves in the real world when things go wrong. Our Kung Fu is about learning how to be prepared for real life fights not those that happen in a ring.

My teacher and all those before him who made what we teach today possible. The Moy Tung Kung Fu Academy is a 4th Generation Yip Man (Ip Man) lineage Ving Tsun martial arts school using the Moy Yat method of instruction as taught by Grandmaster Anthony Moy Tung to MY3 Sigung Aaron “Moy Sup Tung” Vyvial (a longtime close and personal student of Moy Tung) and senior grand students in the central Texas area.
