Meet Priscilla Charles of Priscilla Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Priscilla Charles.

Priscilla, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m not your typical picture of a health guru or fitness model and yet I’m absolutely in love with wellness.

Back in 2012 I started working out and eating healthy. It ended up changing my body in ways I never imagined. I’ve never been your athletic, toned up the type of girl so when I saw my waist slim up and my thighs get firm… I was hooked! Mind you, I never liked working out. Ever. So for someone who never was in sports or cared to eat right, this was a massive change. I began to look better than ever and my body was in the best shape it had ever been in.

However, I began to notice that the fitter I became, my mind and heart just didn’t follow. I mean, getting fit is supposed to cure it all right? Wrong. I found that the more focused I was on changing my body, the less I was focused on nurturing my mind and my heart.

Fast forward 6 years, I’ve experienced so much internally that has brought me to a place of not only peace with my body but an infinite amount of love and appreciation for it. I no longer have a strict, set workout plan. I don’t compare myself or desire to look like someone else. I follow my intuition when it comes to what I eat. I rest when I feel like resting.

My website was created as an outlet for my fitness journey and as time has gone by it’s turned into a space of encouragement and motivation. While discovering my own way of falling in love with health, I’ve gotten the opportunity to coach and teach other women to do the same. It’s always been a passion of mine to encourage people to see past their flaws. We can be our own worst critics sometimes and miss the beauty everyone else sees in us.

Over time this space has gone from recipes and workouts to now podcasts and posts on aiming for becoming whole from within. That’s where the real wellness begins.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It most certainly has not been a smooth road. There have been seasons that I’ve felt discouraged, unmotivated and not “good enough” to create wellness content and be an example to other women. As I look back, I’ve realized that even these moments we feel and consider weak are some of the most teachable and encouraging moments we can share with our audience.

I love being vulnerable with my setbacks in wellness because it lets other women know they don’t need to strive for perfection and that we all struggle in our journey on becoming healthier. It’s a crucial part of the process. It’s necessary.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Priscilla Wellness story. Tell us more about the business.
What started as a creative outlet to share my health and fitness journey has evolved into helping woman love their bodies, minds and hearts far beyond what society allows.

It has open opportunities to coach women one on one on how to eliminate the “diet” mindset and not restrict themselves to any type of food. Instead, I encourage and teach them how to eat intuitively and fall in love with being active. In result, they stop viewing exercise as punishment and learn to incorporate it in a healthy and enjoyable way. We go through a series of mindset work, unlearning nutritional jargon we are conditioned to, freeing ourselves of beauty standards, along with many other aspects that help shift the faulty health belief systems we are used to.

Since the program is fairly new, I only take word of mouth clients and am working towards offering the program in the near future. I am taking my time with it and not rushing to advertise it because I want to make sure I offer the best quality coaching that brings forth a lifetime of results.

I am most proud of the connections that are built throughout the process, with each other but mostly with yourself. Witnessing women gain body confidence while letting go of comparison is one of the most rewarding things for me to be a part of!

The one thing I know sets me apart from others is that I don’t believe in before and after photos or comparisons. I live and teach from a non-competitive perspective and do not promise or preach the loss of X number of pounds to be happy and beautiful. However, the program does come with weight loss results due to the mind and life shift that takes place.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I can honestly say that I don’t believe in luck. I used to as a child, but not anymore. Sure, there are things that can fall into someone’s lap, but it is very unlikely and even more unlikely that it will be kept if there isn’t work and dedication involved some way or another.

Though this was not something I planned for even a year ago, my passion and consistency in sharing my story, recipes, evolving mindset with fitness, etc is what brought forth the opportunity to serve this need in women.

There are times I lack consistency due to being unmotivated and again, feeling like I have no business coaching anyone… and that is when results suffer most. I’ve learned to be gentle with myself and only let it encourage me to keep on even when I don’t have the drive in that very moment.

So luck means nothing, passion paired with action is everything.
