Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica St. John and Scott Weaver.
Jessica and Scott, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When we relocated to Houston from Denver, Colorado (nearly a decade ago!) we were lost as to how to find a rental and where to live in this sprawling city. We found a realtor who assisted us and although it was helpful, we thought there could be a better way to introduce people to the great city of Houston.
With so many people relocating to Houston, we started our company and focused on matching our clients to the different areas of town based on their personalities, interests and hobbies. We assisted in helping our client’s find rentals (apartments, lofts, townhouses) as well as homes for purchase, but we didn’t stop there. We built relationships with our clients and hosted regular happy hours for them to meet other people new to Houston (and try out some of Houston’s best bars/restaurants!!).
Over the last 10 years we have created a family of clients, and as our business grew, a family of agents that work and play together in this city. We now have agents in three Texas cities, Houston, Dallas and Austin and we plan to continue growing our ULR family.
Has it been a smooth road?
One of the biggest struggles along the way has been maintaining our family atmosphere as we have grown as a company. To do this we host frequent company events (roller skating parties, pool parties, even a ULR Field day.
Real estate is a competitive industry and we believe it is important to encourage teamwork and friendship between our agents. We have healthy, good-natured competition. We were honored to be named one of HBJ’s Best Places to Work for 2017 and are nominated again for 2018.

ULR specializes in a full-service real estate in the Inner Loop and Galleria area. We work with clients looking to lease, buy and sell in these areas, as well as outside the loop. We are known for working hard to make sure our clients are 100% satisfied (we have stellar Google, Yelp and Facebook reviews) and believe in always going above and beyond for our clients.
We are most proud of our team of dedicated agents. They truly care about one another and go out of their way to help each other whenever they can. Although real estate is competitive, our agents are always willing to lend each other a hand (from catching an agent up on a training that they missed, to showing each other’s clients).
It is this commitment to helping that sets us apart (and always makes me smile!). We encourage agents to share when another agent goes above and beyond for them!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Houston is an amazing city full of opportunity. Although we saw a decline in relocation clients with the downturn in oil and gas, the economy has remained fairly steady and our client base has stayed strong.
We were honored to help many of the clients that were displaced by Harvey find new and temporary homes and gave a percentage of our commission back to each client to help them get back on their feet. With the diversity of Houston, this is a wonderful place for all sorts of new businesses to start!
