Meet Jayne Do’ of XO JAYNE DO in Energy Corridor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayne Do’.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was 14 years old when I entered the fashion styling industry. In high school, I owned a very lucrative company, styled many Houston fashion shows and began introducing editorial fashion styling to the Houston market. At 18, I left Houston to attend Clark Atlanta University. During my time in Atlanta, my career expanded and I began working with celebrities, shooting music videos and styling red carpet events.

Shortly after, I moved to Washington DC where I took on Editorial styling full time, began my journey as a fashion journalist, interviewing the likes of Kris Jenner, Tabatha Coffey, Timbaland, Karen Civil and many more.

During my 11 years as a fashion stylist, I have been fortunate enough to be every type of stylist (Editorial, event, celebrity personal shopping, etc.), launch a successful company (XO JAYNE DO – providing the tools to groom the next generation of stylists) and became an author of my very own stylists series entitled DEAR STYLISTS. The first issue features reality show star and Wilhelmina model Draya Michele.

Throughout my career, I plan like to do whatever it takes to educate the fashion styling community, create new jobs for aspiring stylists and ultimately groom the next generation of our fashion styling leaders.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s never a smooth road, I have wanted to give up a million times but with purpose, comes problems so I roll with the punches. Figuring out my value and enforcing it was the most difficult thing for me. Styling is all I ever wanted to do and essentially all I know.

I would take jobs that didn’t pay or would leave me in debt for the sake of doing what I love. Having that energy comes with major consequences when you’re trying to establish yourself as a brand but you’re known for low-balling yourself or being a push over. I’ve also struggled with management and building brand relevance as a “one-woman show”.

Please tell us about XO JAYNE DO.
XO JAYNE DO is a developing style house that features tools, resources and workshops for aspiring stylists and veteran stylists that could use polishing. Our goal is to successfully “groom the next generation of fashion stylists.”

I am an expert fashion stylist, creative director and author. I specialize in editorial styling, fashion marketing and fashion styling education. I am known for my minimalism meets color-blocking form of styling and from my fashion-styling help series, DEAR STYLISTS.

I am most proud of my Dear Stylists series, I have been extremely fortunate to be able to assist so many new stylists in furthering their careers. I am also proud of my journey, every milestone and/or setback I experience.. helps someone else.

XO JAYNE DO grooms the next generation of fashion stylists by offering incoming stylists as many tools as possible (whether its hands on or educational) to help them succeed while obtaining amazing reputations.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood would have to be either cooking with my mom or having my many fashion show sleepovers.
