Check out Code Redd’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Code Redd.

Code, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Born & raised in Houston TX. Marching band & my family / friends really influences my soundscape. Taught myself how to play the piano / Just playing songs I would hear on 97.9 lol. Always hearing different chord progressions & melodies in my head! From going to football games as a kid to see my cousins play during half time shows / to actually being on the field myself concentrating on NOT missing a note or a step. Lol Started really getting into music production around 8th grade & honestly, I didn’t really know what a music producer was until I discovered #RyanLeslie / Timbo & a few more producers I’m inspired by till this day. Times when we had band practice I would hear cadences / different chord progressions but didn’t really have a way to get them out. Sounds & different grooves I felt were always there in me. With a little google research though I *discovered* FL Studio! 😍 .. started a production label #ProjectHallOFame 🎹

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Originally formed in 2009, by the name of (League of Xtraordinary Gentlemen (LXG) was initially a solo project consisting of Dorien Miller (i2edd Extraordinaire). Dorien was born and raised in Southfield, Michigan. His archive of beats & undeniable array of talent with Pop, R&B, Techno, House etc. Years later, caught the attention of another young talented producer (CodeRedd), coming straight out of Houston, Texas. with a similar introduction to music production. *Started out really remixing songs I would hear on the radio? or whatever caught my ear. in school I would hear different chords & melodies at band practice. but didn’t really have a way to get my ideas out, until I discovered FL Studio. that’s really where most of my creative inspiration comes from the blend of different chords & cadences.

I was also my own apprentice, Building & repairing old computers? and had dreams of one day starting a label. lol to help upcoming producers, artist etc. like myself get more exposure/resources. I feel like Houston has a lot of hidden potential & I want to create more platforms & ways for people to show that besides just social media. Collab with other dope brands/outlets to showcase different aspects of Houston culture. Maybe it’s just me that feels like we have to create the environment, business structure we envy elsewhere. And we have so many resources and talented people here! I know how it is myself by living here & I’ve started that label I’ve dreamed of years ago to highlight other creatives, dope brands from startup to #ProjectHallOFame
