Meet Kevin Taylor of Blackbeard Fabrication

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Taylor.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kevin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Blackbeard Fabrication started in the garage of our home in 2015. With a handful of tools and a boatload of ideas, we started our business. We initially started building home furniture and doing simple weld repairs. We moved on to doing large scale metal fabrication jobs for new restaurants and bars being built around the Houston Area. We also build all the memorial benches for the Texas State Veteran Cemeteries which we are very proud of since we are veteran-owned. We got where we are today through hard work, stubborn perseverance, and a lot of luck.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been anything but smooth. Our first year was the hardest. Being a first-time business owner is hard, we were learning everything on the fly and trying our best to make the right decisions.

Some of the struggles of being a new business is convincing people to give you their business. We also learned that most of the time that things don’t go as planned and we started to learn to roll with the punches.

Blackbeard Fabrication – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Blackbeard Fabrication is owned by Kevin Taylor and my wife Danielle is a huge help around the shop. We are a custom metal fabrication shop that specializes in metal furniture, decor, signage, and things of that nature.

We are proud when we see our finished products in someone’s restaurant or bar and the fact that thousands of people will see our product.

What sets us apart is our attention to detail, we meticulously handcraft every item one a time and take great pride in our work.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is being able to go to work every day and enjoy what you do for a living.
