Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Asinovsky.
Victoria, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I graduated from the New York Institute of Photography, I first earned money by selling prints on auctions and E-bay, with a few personal exhibitions of several of my collections-among them White Sands and Prague.
However, when I became a mother, my mindset was altered forever, and my approach to seeing people in a picture was, too. I saw pure beauty when I took the first photos of my daughter. To this day, these are some of the most precious pictures in our family album. This was how I discovered my passion for baby photography and got a job as a newborn photographer in the Texas Children’s Hospital.
I spent a wonderful 5 years there until I came to realize that what I wanted was to become more flexible and expand my photography business, which would specialize in newborn photography. It was when businesses started turning up online and personal branding became a must-have for professionals that pursuit of credibility and professional image created a demand for business headshots.
I soon grasped the idea that corporate portraits could also be represented artistically, and so began experimenting with lighting and composition, thus creating my own style and sharing it with others through my Tuesday photography classes.
Today, business portrait photography is my niche in the modern photography world.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I chose the path of ambition, the road that promised the opportunity to prove to myself that I can be a high-class specialist. It was a conscious way out of comfort zone in the direction of growth and opportunities. My goal was to realize my creative potential fully. To do this, I had to abandon my fears and face the uncertainty.
As a self-starting entrepreneur with little managerial experience, I had a hard time managing my time and keeping a check on business. Maintaining a client base, doing taxes, choosing top-notch equipment, staying true to the schedule – it all felt like the nightmare to me.
In my moments of weakness, when I wanted to quit, my passion stopped me from giving up on my dreams. It is crucial to find like-minded people who also strive to achieve the same goal or who have already reached it, to learn from their experience and to find in the inspiration.
In this way, my husband, without whom none of this would have been possible, came to my aid by helping with our website, graphics, and managing finances. My 13-year old daughter, too, helped me with English grammar. It took our team 3 months to build a website, design a logo, create a brand name, and define its style.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Candy Fox Photography Studio – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I’m proud to have our studio is recognized as the best in Katy. I photograph specialists of any rank: from managers to CEOs. Brokers, coaches, and lawyers come to my studio for “Candy Fox look,” and when they leave, I can see more confidence in them.
I help specialists from different fields maintain a professional image, build better connections, and make a great first impression. I’m honored to work with such renowned companies as Ashton Woods, ReMax, Coldwell Banker, Mark 3 Systems, Allied Alloys and many more. Once, a client called me to say that he got a job after updating his Linkedin profile picture.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are planning to expand and create in the same direction for now, but my dream is to found a Photography Center with a photo studio, exhibitions and photography classes.
