Meet Chrystal Espinosa of Chrystal Eve Makeup

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chrystal Espinosa.

Chrystal, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve been doing makeup since 2008. I only would do it for myself and would get so many compliments from my colleagues. I then started to self-teach myself and get more knowledge from other artists who were in the makeup industry. I wasn’t as confident in myself to venture out and do people’s makeup just yet, even though I had the support of former coworkers and knew what I was capable of.

In the year 2016, I became a new stay at home mom, over time I had perfected my craft and started to build confidence in myself. I made a post on social media where I was starting to do makeup, a former co-worker of mine saw the post and offered me a job to freelance for her growing makeup team company. Now, I’m a full-time lead artist on her team going on 4 years now.

I have learned so many beauty techniques, taken different makeup classes to perfect my craft and learned so much about how the makeup industry works. It’s been amazing! If it wasnt for all the support of my colleagues, close friends and family I honestly wouldnt be doing what I love to do today.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
For sure not a smooth sailing. There was a lot of times where I questioned myself if I am good enough or if my makeup work is comparable to many makeup artists out there. Over time I blocked all the negativity out and just focused on my craft and got better and more confident. In the beauty industry, you learn as you go. We have good days and bad days just like everyone else, but the bad days just pushes me more to be even better.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Chrystal Eve Makeup story. Tell us more about the business.
I like to categorize myself as a Professional Freelance Makeup Artist. I’ve worked with a couple of other Makeup & Hair Teams that are in the wedding industry. As well as building my clientele doing makeup for weddings, quinceaneras any special events. I would say my trait what I’m known for when I do clients makeup is that I’m all about the eyes! I love to do eye makeup and feel that is my strongest skill in makeup artistry.

I’m very versatile when it comes to different makeup applications I can do natural glam, extravagant glam, I love a challenge makeup look that I can execute at my best. I like to deliver quality and time to my clients. So when they look in the mirror they feel beautiful and worthy.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
It takes a lot of skill, talent, hard work, and determination. I was lucky enough to be able to know the right people that lead the way for me to grow in the business. So I’m glad I took a chance and stepped out of my comfort zone.
