Today we’d like to introduce you to TaQuanna Johnson.
TaQuanna, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always known that I wanted to help, nurture and/or heal people. I just didn’t know what route I would go. In high school, my dream career was to become a physical therapist and have my own practice. After graduation, I was not ready to go off to college and not be able to see my parents every day. So, four months later I enrolled in massage therapy school. Didn’t know a thing about it. Yet here I am 16yrs later loving every moment.
I started my career off by working for different franchise companies. I went from one location to the next in search of something different. I soon realized they were all the same and I would never find true happiness or fulfill my purpose working for others. Oct of 2016 was the beginning of my new journey. I walked away from my “secured” position to live out my dream.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being an entrepreneur/business owner is not always peaches and cream! There have been times when I’ve wanted to call it quits and just crawl into a hole and hide. In the beginning, I was all over the place taking every offer that came my way just so I could make ends meet. Not to mention finding the “perfect” location, my ideal client, the best platform to advertise, and the list goes on! Needless to say, it’s all worth it!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Balanced Bodywork and Therapy story. Tell us more about the business.
Balanced Bodywork and Therapy was created to bring relief, healing and hope into their client’s life. We focus on helping you live a pain-free and stress-free life. Specializing in deep tissue, sports and pain management we like to find the right solution to help you on your healing journey. That is why each session is customized and tailored to best benefit you.
I am proud to say that we take pride in our sessions and we value each and every person that walks through our doors. We do not rush to get you in and out. All consultations are thorough and do not cut into your hands on time.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I was so anxious to be a business owner that I did not take the necessary steps to properly execute a business plan. I kind of just went with the flow! To most that would be a recipe for disaster. Luckily it’s been working out for me! I have been blessed with people that are willing to push me to greatness!
