Conversations with the Inspiring Leslie Margarita

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Margarita.

Leslie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began creating movies in my parents backyard when I was just 13 years. I’ve always had a passion for telling stories. Ironically though, I took a film photography class while I was in high school and hated it haha! Years later, I got engaged to my husband, David Sotelo, and I fell in love with all things wedding cinema and photography. My husband was the first one to buy a camera when we got married. Not long after that I jumped on board as well. I took the initiative to learn as much as I could and here I am today 6 years later.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
One of the hardest things for me has been the struggle with social anxiety. This is something that I have dealt with all my life. I’m that one girl that sits quietly in the back of the class hoping the teacher won’t make me introduce myself on the first day of school haha.

I believe having a strong business is equivalent to having strong relationships. For me, walking into a networking event with complete strangers takes a lot of courage. It is something that I am still working on today. However, at some point, you just have to get up and punch fear in the face!

What should we know about Leslie Margarita Photography? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in wedding photography. I was a bride before, so everything that I do, I do it as if it were for my own wedding. I have a very close connection with my couples. They start off as clients but end up as lifelong friends.

As far as my style of wedding photography, it is very clean, minimal, modern and elegant. I also love love love dramatic black and whites!

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
Man was created from dirt and the woman was intricately designed out of bone. I believe God has given us a unique type of strength that can be used for so much good in this world.
