Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Carbajal.
Joe, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In 2007, Texas Stat Plumbing was founded. We are a family based business with my brother as (co-owner), my wife (C.C.R.), my sister in law (C.C.R.) and my son (Social Media Expert), all work for the company. We would eventually be forced to change our name to Texas Quality Plumbing when we were attempting to incorporate. It was one of many early lessons we learned the hard way in those early days. We started in a pick-up truck, with my brother, a helper and myself. Our first year in business seemed promising. We mostly concentrated on residential-service work. To drum up some customers, we placed an ad in a local newspaper and were fortunate enough to generate a response. In our second year we took a little bit of a different direction. We formed a relationship with builders and started doing new-construction work on hotels. We had our shop and office in my house. Till about 5 years in the business my wife convinced me to lease an office and shop. She said our neighbors didn’t like the idea of us changing into our uniforms in the garage with the garage door open. We eventually outgrew the first office and shop and moved to a bigger location, as we are writing this we are in the process of finding a bigger location to accommodate our team. We currently do 85% of residential service work and 15% of commercial work. We strive in customer service as you can tell if you look us up online, we have a lot of great reviews. One of our goals for Texas Quality Plumbing is to be the plumbing company that all Houstonians call to when they have a plumbing issue. Our guys are uniformed, our vans are fully wrapped and our expert plumbers are fully trained. You have probably seen our vans around Houston, if not keep your eyes open, we aren’t hard to miss.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In the beginning, of course money was a big issue. We had to borrow from my parents just to make payroll. Another issue was our taxes, we had no idea how to set up our company. Another challenge we have been facing is too much work, which is lovely, that’s why we keep on growing every year.
Texas Quality Plumbing – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We currently do only plumbing. We specialize in water heaters, clogs, sewer replacements, re-pipes, water leaks, filtration systems, re-models, gas test, installation of toilets, faucets, sinks etc….We are known for our great customer service. And our customers always remind us about how our C.C.R.’s answer the phones, (How can we make you smile today) is what we say here when you call in. We are also known for our beautiful vans, they are an eye catcher.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me success means having a great relationship with my wife and sons, also to be a righteous person, to be a great leader. To be an example in my church and community. And of course to have a profitable business. I am always looking to grow spiritually, business wise, and health wise. I am a true believer of learning every day, I am either reading books, or watching you tube videos, or going to seminars on the above mention topics.
