Meet Craig Klein of SalesNexus.com in Heights

Today we’d like to introduce you to Craig Klein.

Craig, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In my early career, I led sales teams for a few energy service companies in Houston. Often, we were training geologists to sell. We had to break selling down into processes and sort of make it a science. We invested in a few different sales training programs and it started me on a journey of learning the art of asking questions and the power of listening.

Eventually, the company I was involved in was acquired and I had a little windfall and I decided it was time to fulfill my lifelong dream of starting my own business.

So, I founded SalesNexus with the goal of helping salespeople be human AND meet their sales goals at the same time.

We try to help our customers manage their sales teams so that they can focus on building strong relationships with customers by learning about each individual customer’s unique needs and making money by helping their customers fulfill those needs.

We’ve been doing it for 15 years and today we have the longest average customer lifetime in the CRM industry. I’m very proud of that.

A few years ago, we began to add marketing automation capabilities to our CRM because we saw the need in our own business. Today, we offer the only all in one solution for sales teams to manage customer relationships AND automatically nurture past leads, clients, former clients. It’s been tremendous to learn first hand, in our own business and through our customers’ accomplishments how powerful lead nurturing can be in supercharging a business’ marketing and sales results without requiring huge investments.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We’re completely self-funded and we’re competing with behemoths like Microsoft, Oracle, and Salesforce. So, it’s always been challenging!

We’ve always had to be creative in standing apart from the crowd and finding our unique niche.
In the early days of Internet marketing, we did well with pay per click and then our big competitors got into the game and drove the costs up too high. Then, we did well with SEO. Then Google updated their algorithm and we were delisted overnight. That set us way back and it took over a year to recover.

What I’m most proud of is that we have been able to build a robust solution with a very small team. Our solution does all the essential things sales teams and marketers need and competes as a feature for feature with competitors that have entire buildings full of developers.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about SalesNexus.com – what should we know?
SalesNexus is a CRM and Marketing Automation solution for B2B sales teams. So, it allows a medium sized business to manage customer relationships and sales teams AND automatically send a marketing message to all of their customers that are specifically targeted to that customer’s interests and needs.
We’re also unique in that we provide services to configure the solution for each customer directly. Most of our competitor’s farm that works out to a network of consultants. We do it directly so that we can ensure that each client gets the most from our solution.
