Today we’d like to introduce you to Becky Soria.
Becky, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As an artist, I have spent many years mindful of my thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations, and the world within. My awareness took me to find an inner landscape of complex structures interrelating thought with sensation, a sensation with feeling, feeling with an engaging idea. But these are relatively abstract conceptualizations of an inner landscape experienced as density, color, texture, movement, and subtle energies.
Being born and raised in Bolivia, and because of my father’s collections of pre-Columbian artifacts, I have been interested in the Paleolithic and Neolithic iconography paintings of the past. I have incorporated forms, colors and textures of art from those ancient periods. I also believe there is another important factor informing my art, I have a love for science and have been a nurse for many years., Some of my paintings have a distinctive organic or biological flavor.
All these influences have helped inspire my work, But in the last analysis, my work is directed by my inner vision. Like other viewers of my work, I too must ponder the images that arise from that inner vision.
Has it been a smooth road?
I can definitively say that it has not been an easy road to become an artist. It has taken me years of intense concentration and daily work to finally achieve some recognition to feel secure and stable with my own particular style.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My studio is where I spend most of my time planning and creating my works. I specialize in painting on canvas, wood or paper. I am known for doing works that show intense emotions. My paintings have an organic or biological flavor.
