Check out Craig Carter’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Craig Carter.

Craig, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Well I begin doing art as a young kid like most people, art was a great outlet to express myself and to get away from my neighborhood even if it was through drawing paper/ pencil & ink. What actually made me fall in love with art was the hip-hop movie called Beat Street, shows the different elements that deal with hip hop (rap, breakdancing, graffiti and djing). The colors truly inspired me and still does.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I’m a mixed media visual artist that uses all types of mediums like acrylics, markers, ink, pencil, oils and spray paint. I often use of mediums in my artwork like coffee and teas to get different tones for portraits. I actually found that technique out by experimenting one day. The style of art that I create is hard to put into words the type of “style” but I get influences from cultural elements and different genres of music. The message that I would like for people to take from my artwork is to be free and create ART! Just love it for what it is!

How can artists connect with other artists?
The only advice that I have for artists that are dealing with being lonely is to continue to create art and pray for strength. Also try getting out of your comfort zone. There’s an amazing art event called Skessions that is held in Houston every Wednesday night in the Montrose area. (2020 Waugh dr). It’s a great place to meet other creative individuals.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
People can see my artwork all over, the most recent mural that I created with some other talented Houston artists that is displayed on the new Whole Foods 365 market in the historic Independence Heights area. My work can be seen on Instagram as well at Instagram.com/craigctheartist. As well as my site on
