Meet Krystle Barrington, Author in Rosharon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystle Barrington.

Krystle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Writing has always been somewhat of an escape for me. As a child, my head was always stuck in a book and with that, I developed a love for writing poetry and short stories. As I got older, my love for writing became a source of therapy. It’s how I wrapped my mind around rejection, heart break, and just figuring out who I was as a woman. It’s how I naturally expressed myself and I truly don’t know what I’d do without this gift from God.

Over the years, I had talked about writing a book but I had no idea where to start. My lack of knowledge combined with fear were the perfect combination for me to drag my feet for years. Looking back now, I’m convinced that I truly found my purpose in writing when I walked away from situations that were only distractions and positioned myself to hear from God in a new way. It’s only then then that I truly started to believe in myself enough to go for it.

I finally decided to invest in myself and take that leap of faith. I decided to show up for myself! I enrolled in a program called The Best Sellers Program where I learned the ins and outs of self-publishing. I self-published my first book, She Believes: 75 Devotionals to Encourage, Motivate, and Inspire in 2015. My next book, Beautiful, Not Broken, a collection of poetry, affirmations, and prayers inspired by my journey of self-love, was published in 2017. Since then, I’ve also published an anthology titled Leaps of Faith, featuring 9 women who were brave enough to chase their dreams and make them a reality. I have also been fortunate to be part of 20 Beautiful Women: 20 Stories that Will Heal Your Soul, Ignite Your Passion and Inspire Your Divine Purpose – Volume 4, released in 2016.

My journey as a faith and lifestyle writer and author continues and so far it’s been the best ride of my life.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve found that marketing myself has been a huge challenge for me over the years. I’m an introvert and so networking and putting myself out there has been something I’ve had to be intentional about. I’d say this is an area I continue to work on but I have certainly come along the way. I’ve met some amazing people throughout my journey.

I learned pretty quickly after releasing my book that public speaking goes hand in hand with writing. I was absolutely nervous the first time someone asked me to speak at their event. I’m no expert and it’s still something I work hard at it, but being an effective speaker has been a challenge for me but also a blessing.

Please tell us about more of being an Author Krystle Barrington.
I am a faith and lifestyle blogger, writer, and author. I believe in the power of transparency, authenticity, and using life’s experiences, whether good or bad, to encourage other people. At the heart of everything I write is the hope that people would be challenged and inspired to live better and do better. Every time someone reaches out to me and expresses how my writing has impacted their lives, I give that honor to God.

I feel like 2018 was the year I truly became comfortable as a writer. I’ve added new content to my blogs, like travel and beauty, and I’m excited to see where things go. Creatively I’m in a good place, and that’s a good place to be.

I am also excited to add one on one services in the near future where I’ll help bloggers, writers, and aspiring authors with branding, marketing, social media management, and self-publishing. I am now in a position to help others and I’m excited about it.
