Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Trimmer.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It was my first year in college (2005) and I took a belly dance class with my mom. I loved how I felt leaving the class and I was immediately hooked. Four years later, I received the opportunity to perform at the Texas Renaissance Festival. This season, I will be performing with the new Dauntless Dance Company at the Puffin. I started teaching in 2010 and since then have offered workshops in Texas, Brazil, Mexico, and at the Specialty Dance program at Rice University. In 2017, I was selected as a Super Bowl LI Houston Live entertainers and met Houston’s premiere contemporary circus company Cirque La Vie who I am now a proud member of.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have experienced challenges in dealing with other artists that have different business practices. You learn as you go, specifically who you can and can’t work with and to what capacity you invest yourself into certain projects.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Jenaan – what should we know?
I perform at corporate events, weddings, concerts, birthday parties, quinceaneras, bachelorette parties, studio openings, anniversary parties, bridal showers, going away parties, restaurants, dinner parties, and music videos. I teach belly dance and yoga lessons for youth and adults. All of my shows are family friendly with flashy props, including isis wings, LED, fire, and swords. People have described my dancing as graceful, lovely, earthy, gorgeous, and interesting. I have a lot of modern dance training and incorporate other styles into my dance which sets me apart from other dancers.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Professionalism, reliability, flexibility, and an enthusiastic attitude is most important for my success.
Pricing:
- My group lesson rate is anywhere from $75-$150
- For private parties, my rate is generally $225-$350
