Nia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am the hairstylist that I am today by a consistent dedication and a plan that I’ve been strategizing for about four years now and continuing. What makes me TheHairPlugg is my perfectionist work of art I construct on my client’s heads weekly, my collection of mink extensions line( amongst other merchandise), my outstanding customer service and drive to expand my brand.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road in being an entrepreneurship is the furthest thing from smooth that there is. In being an entrepreneur, you are literally your own boss, making all the decisions. One must consistently invest back into one’s business. This may cause a few setbacks for individuals maneuvering in entrepreneurship trying to make it following their own rules. My BIGGEST bump in the road, for me, personally, is moving halfway across the country from Laurel, Maryland – to – Houston, Texas, this bump caused me to have to start a fresh slate and grow my clientele back up from scratch! But my most helpful advice is to have a mentor in the same field that you are pursuing, to help semi guide you if you may have any questions and to learn from their past mistakes so you won’t end up making the same ones!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into TheHairPlugg story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in ALL weave installations (traditional, full, vixen, frontal/closure, etc.), retwisting dreads, and natural hair. Although I am mostly known for my weavologist portfolio, I enjoy doing all hair types. I stand out from all other hairstylists because of the pleasurable experience & impeccable results. Nobody will leave my hair disappointed at all!
Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
My role model in Maryland – Mrs. Rojnell Roshanda. As well as many of my favorite countless influential celebrity hairstylist including: Jaylon Aaron, Alonzo Arnold, Cliffvmir, Tokyo, Crackinass Dev, etc.
