Meet Luis Cazares

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis Cazares.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I just knew I loved art and enjoyed the process of it ever since I could remember. My parents have always been supportive of the arts. My dad was always sketching and drawing whatever crazy thing came to his mind. My mom picked up painting really fast and loved the practice of it. She taught me that there is joy in the process and not just in the outcome. Everyone in my family has always been very artistically inclined. So, for me art just came naturally but I just never took it seriously until these last few years. I always had this vision of what I want to do as an artist and how I want to achieve it. I’m not there yet but I’m working towards that goal.

Please tell us about your art.
I usually create with whatever I have on hand. Usually I will have pens and pencils and other times a camera. I feel like art can be created out of anything. I see everything everyone does as art, to an extent. I appreciate when people put in work towards something that benefits us as a society. Whether it’s something they teach or an impact that a person or people make.

I love it. I love the human mind and the capacity at which it can work as an individual or group. I just hope that what people take away from my art is the fact that art doesn’t have to be what is traditionally thought of as art. Art is whatever you think is art. If you find meaning in what you do and it makes you feel some type of way, its art. My artwork is sporadic. It’s temporary in the way that sometimes I’ll make something and later trash it. I work in a bunch of different mediums. I try not to limit myself to what I can do and what I want to do.

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
I usually post on my Instagram and my website. I do a lot of progress work through snapchat and I try to keep everything as updated as possible. Support me by following my page and check the website for more info and eventually I will have some work for sale.
