Today we’d like to introduce you to Cherry Whittington.
Cherry, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I loved antiques from an early age, and it was only natural for me to incorporate them into my home. When my husband and I married we continued collecting. Years later still buying antiques our home, garage and storage became quite full. It became evident it was time to sell some, I opened a small antique space nearby, eventually growing to the point of opening an antique store with a friend in Stafford. I later expanded to the building next door, and added home accessories to the collection of primitive antiques. I felt there was a need for hard to find items such as lighting, rugs, upholstered furniture, thus began Gatherings for the Home.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I don’t believe any business is without challenges. Road construction on Highway 90 was definitely not a smooth road, literally. Dealing with road construction was a bit challenging. I have a loyal following of customers who continued to make their way to the store during that time.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Gatherings For The Home – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in distinctive handmade, one of a kind primitive antiques, and accessories. I carry antique crocks, baskets, small wood items such as tool carriers, and tinware. I am proud to offer American handmade items from many talented artisans. Among my offerings I have available are upholstered furniture, rugs, textiles, and locally made table cupboards, and wall pieces. My offerings will blend well with, farmhouse, industrial, and traditional styles. Candles, and seasonal floral round things out for that special pop of color, and wonderful scent.
Displays are a big part of what I do in the store. I think that is important to show how to use unusual, and unexpected objects to decorate your home. It is always fun, and challenging to find everyday uses for unusual objects. I believe in enjoying, and using the items in our homes including the antiques,
I offer an eye pleasing inviting environment to inspire the senses, and calm the soul. I invite you to savoir the experience with a visit to Gatherings For The Home.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
To continue doing what I love; source distinctive items to create that truly special home.
