Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Lendzioszek.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I grew up loving drawing and painting- mostly for fun. Several years ago, a friend asked if I could paint portraits of her dogs. I love a challenge, so I agreed! After that, requests for custom work started coming in one by one. I began painting tons of other things that make me happy. I opened an Etsy shop called Familiar Paper and began offering custom work and high-quality prints of my original watercolors. When I’m not selling art at local craft fairs, I am painting at my dining table with my 5-year-old son. I sell my art wholesale to several local retailers and have licensed my work to small and large retailers. I believe that art should be available and accessible to anyone, and I’ve worked on numerous public art pieces, including a mosaic mural in the Near Southside, Fort Worth, and painted murals at several local schools.
Please tell us about your art.
Using bright layers of translucent watercolor, I create fun, eye-catching compositions. My work features a variety of subject matter from my imagination and my surroundings. I love seeing a smile break across someone’s face when they see my art. I try to push the colors out of their comfort zones.
Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
I think that it is more important than ever for people to speak about what is important to them- to give a voice to the voiceless. I speak through my art.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I have an Etsy shop and a personal website where you can buy prints, order custom work, or inquire about wholesale and licensing opportunities.
