Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Tuben.
Kelsey, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Unbridaled is really about making every bride feel comfortable and free to express her wedding style whatever that may be. We started in 2005 in Austin and expanded to Houston last year. We were seeing a lot of Houston clients driving to Austin because they were tired of feeling forced into a traditional dress when it really wasn’t them. We have an environment that that makes the process feel like you are trying on dresses with your best friend that has way too much knowledge about different laces, silks, and flattering silhouettes. We love our jobs because you get to make a woman feel like the most beautiful version of herself – this is why we continue to grow. The reward of making some one feel so confident is addicting and we want to spread to everyone.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are always some struggles right! Having one store in one city has its own learning curve but then starting the process over in a new city presents some challenges. The main struggle is giving up some of the power. There is literally no way I can do everything and that is why I have an amazing staff. Sometimes remembering that they are amazing and can handle things is easier said than done. The community we are part of is so supportive and we love being surrounded by all the artist studios. It makes it easy for us in stressful situations to take a breather get some fresh air and look at some art. Other than the occasional stressed out bride we have it so easy. It actually doesn’t seem fair.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Unbridaled – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I touched on this a little earlier. We are a bridal boutique specializing in independent designers. We really just try to offer a refreshing approach to an otherwise intimidating environment. We try to support the smaller designers and make sure everything is consciously produced.
Honestly, I am most proud of our reputation. Bridal is stressful for many people and I feel like we can take that stress off our brides and help her enjoy her engagement. She doesn’t have to feel the worry of high pressure sales and judgement on what makes her feel like the most beautiful version of herself.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
No new plans yet- However, I see a party in our future 🙂
