Check out Meg Ellis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meg Ellis.

Meg, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I love my story! Ultimately, I hope my story can help inspire others to go down a similar path that will lead to their own happiness, just as I have found. I am the Instructor Manager (and Lead Instructor) for CycleBar Sawyer Heights, and I can say with extreme honesty and passion that I love my job and what I get to do each and every day. I love the opportunities that full-time fitness has given me, and I am very excited about my latest project, Sweatwork HTX.

I had been employed in a full-time 9-5 job since immediately after college, and began instructing indoor cycling about 5 years ago. However, I didn’t get into full-time fitness until about a year ago–I had been internally very unhappy with some personal aspects of life, one including being a profession where my talents and passions weren’t being maximized, and read “The 4-Hour Work Week” and quit my job a week later to pursue a life of dream-catching and passion fulfilment.

At this point, I became employed full-time by CycleBar Sawyer Heights as their Instructor Manager, where not only do I get to motivate and inspire others mentally, emotionally and physically, but I get to train others how to do this to. I love motivating people and being encompassed in positive vibes on an everyday basis.

I am addicted to the energy, the inspiration, and knowing that I am truly helping people. This was what I was meant to do. I didn’t want to stop with my riders and my squad, I wanted to take things BIGGER. Enter, Sweatwork HTX.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Sweatwork HTX is a new concept that I have been working on for a few months. I’ve partnered with Muvvement to get professionals in the local community together to sweat and network, hence the name “Sweatwork.” Every month, studio owners and managers, fitness instructors, advocates, and influencers are all invited to sweat it out together. The workout rotates between studios and the crew of guests varies. We break the boundaries of competition that separate us, and form a community of working together.

Why just for fitness professionals? Let me tell you two things about fitness professionals.

First: Everyday, we get to go into rooms full of people and help them discover their feelings. Their dreams. Their fears. And more importantly—what to do with them. We get to help take them beyond the physicality of a workout and into the mental and emotional state of it.

We see people everyday achieve things they didn’t think they could do; Achieve things other people said they couldn’t do. It’s truly amazing to watch and I am very thankful to be a part of it.

Second: Collective Thinking. If we, as fitness professionals, inspire people every day on our own–imagine what we can do TOGETHER. There is so much power in surrounding yourself with like-minded people. People with similar goals and dreams. Now gather everyone together in one room with the same goal of finishing a workout together? I cannot even begin to describe the energy and vibes in that room!

Sweatwork HTX is a baby at the moment, and I am super excited to see where life takes it.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
Success is a feeling and it belongs to you. It doesn’t matter what anyone else sees. What do you see? If you are proud of where you are and where you started, then be proud. If there’s still some work to do, then do it! We define ourselves and it’s time to get what we know is destined for us….how do we do that?

SURROUND YOURSELF WITH GOOD PEOPLE. I cannot stress this enough. Again, there is power in collective thinking, so surround yourself with people who are like-minded and believe in you and your dreams!

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
If you are a fitness professional, we host monthly sweatworks–follow us on Instagram or email me for more information!

For fitness junkies, I teach a full schedule at CycleBar Sawyer Heights and I strongly encourage anyone and everyone to come check it out–if you’re scared, I get it! You should have seen my first spin class—hot mess express! But I can guarantee that what CycleBar has to offer is so much more than just a physical workout.

I also recently became an ambassador for two companies in which I strongly believe. Revolucion Juice (Heights) and Restore Hyper Wellness + Cyro (River Oaks.) I believe that you have to take care of your body and mind on every level, so fueling each with proper nutrition and recovering properly is so important.

I am also venturing into teaching another fitness format, so stay tuned for that….
