Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathryn Booth.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I have always been a creative type of person. From a young age, I was in and out of tattoo shops with my dad, and the artists always inspired me to draw on my own. For a while, I thought I wanted to go into biomedical science, but once I got to college and tried out some different classes, I knew I wanted to chase art. My goal is to be a well-known tattoo artist in the Houston area. I am currently looking for an apprenticeship and taking steps to get where I need to be.
Please tell us about your art.
All of my work doesn’t always have a message/ meaning. I usually create just to see what I can come up with. A lot of my work is put into a portfolio for people to see my abilities and hopefully one day for people to have tattooed on their bodies! I mainly draw with pencil and ink, but I am a multimedia artist that just enjoys the notion of creating.
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
Finding time to sit down and draw or paint seems like it is becoming harder to achieve. Between work, school, and other responsibilities I find myself staying up late at night to get the opportunity to make new things.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I have shown at a few galleries in the Houston area, such as “Insomnia Art Gallery,” “Nomu Art Gallery” and Hardy and Nance Studios” under the name of Kathryn Booth. I also consistently update most of my work on my art Instagram page: Kats_artgallery.28 and post what Galleries I will be showing at next.
