Life and Work with Brittany Grubbs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Grubbs.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a young girl, my father used to carry around a camcorder. You know – one of those big clunkers; took small videotapes that you would slide into a larger VHS later. Well, I was your typical daddy’s girl. Wanted to do and be just like the old man. So naturally, I took after his footsteps and walked around recording anything and everything I could. Me singing, my friends, my family, pets and all! Eventually, he bought himself a Canon film camera which was passed along to me when he died during my younger years of age ten. I fell in love with using his camera and moved into digital photography shortly after. My 9th-grade year of high school, I invested my sonic carhop earnings into buying my first DSLR – Nikon camera. In recent years, I discovered a larger love for the world of photography. After having my daughter almost eight years ago, I really started to kick the knowledge into gear! As I would share my images, I started to get inquiries from other people asking to take their photos. And just like that, I fell down the whirlwind rabbit hole of the amazing world of photography.

Has it been a smooth road?
My road has not always been a breeze. That roller coaster ride of ups and downs is something I know too well. Building a brand, a business, and a name for yourself artistically doesn’t come easy for us all. It’s taken time and patience in my journey to get to where I am today and I am not done moving forward by no means. My advice to the women stepping foot into this amazing world is don’t quit. There are going to be days where you feel you’ll never amount to the photographer next to you. However, I also believe in community over competition. Don’t get me wrong, I know a business is a business, and naturally, as humans, we feel competitive. Let that drive you in your knowledge about photography, about the art in it, and the business behind it all. But keeping a good rapport with other photographers in the community can really help your soul! There are so many wonderful creatives in this world and to getting to know the minds around you is truly liberating. On days you do feel down those other photographers can be there to pick you up! You can always learn something new and I would advise taking a workshop or mentoring session at least once a year!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with BG Visuals – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am a lifestyle photographer on the weekends, ultrasound tech during the week, and mom boss forever.

I specialize in capturing the emotive, free, bold, raw, and intimate moments in my session. I photograph Couples, Families, Children, Motherhood, Newborn, & small weddings or elopements.

I tailor each session to the unique story behind the faces I am adventuring with.
I believe in intimate moments and adventurous souls.
I am able to get my clients to express their personalities in a way that is carefree.
I crave genuine moments that show the raw love and connections.
My sessions are usually filled with laughter, games, a lot of love and hugs!

I am personally proud of the passion I serve before, during, and after a session. I not only want to capture the moments you are aware of but the tiny moments that go unnoticed.

I try to set my self apart from the typical posed images and thrive off a genuine connection you share with your loved ones. I do this by documenting you as you are because no two stories are the same.

What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
The best advice I could give to someone just starting their career would be persistence, confidence, positivity and to stay humble. Illuminating these qualities even on your darkest days will help your spirits. Sometimes, the term fakes it till you make it holds true. You have to play the role until you are the role. Stay persistent during your journey and never give up.
