Check Out Cholpon Bektashova’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cholpon (Aria Soon To Be Middle Name) Bektashova.

Hi Cholpon (Aria soon to be middle name), can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In 2013, I landed in Houston from Kyrgyzstan with a one-way ticket, little English, and a big dream. I didn’t know what the future held — but I was ready to find out. To improve my language skills, I immersed myself in books, shows, and yes…a lot of Netflix! 😄

In 2017, I started my real estate career as a leasing consultant with Hanover Company. That’s where I really fell in love with the industry. I earned my real estate license in 2020 and dove into apartment locating, a natural fit thanks to my leasing background. I could recognize apartment complexes just by their kitchen cabinets or flooring — and clients loved how easily I could match them to the perfect place.

My goal was always to master my craft. Within my first two years, I became a top-producing locator, helping dozens of families — many of whom later became first-time homeowners. That success inspired my transition into residential sales.

Today, I specialize in new construction homes and am certified in residential construction. I’ve since joined Maya Blanton and started expanding into the luxury real estate market, bringing the same passion, knowledge, and hustle to every client — no matter the price point.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Moving to a new country with limited English and no family nearby was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I had to figure out everything from scratch — how to communicate, how to build a career, and how to survive in a completely new culture.

There were days I felt lost. I remember walking into rooms where I didn’t understand half the conversation but still showed up, smiled, and took notes. I constantly doubted if I was doing the right thing. But I kept learning — books, podcasts, even binge-watching Netflix to improve my English and pick up on cultural nuances.

In real estate, especially in the beginning, there were long hours, no guaranteed income, and a lot of “nos” before I ever heard a “yes.” I worked weekends, juggled clients, and followed up relentlessly because I knew I had to outwork my fear with consistency.

But every challenge shaped who I am today. It gave me resilience, confidence, and the ability to truly connect with people — especially those who are also navigating big life changes. That’s why I love what I do now. I get to help others build their version of the American dream, just like I’ve been building mine.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a Houston-based real estate agent who helps people buy, build, and invest in homes — from cozy starter homes to luxury dream homes.

What sets me apart? Education and empathy. I don’t just open doors — I guide, explain, and support my clients at every step. Because I’ve walked in their shoes — moving here, learning a new language, starting from scratch — I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed by the unknown. That’s why I make the process simple, clear, and empowering.

I’m New Construction Home Certified and trained in residential construction, which means I help my clients understand floor plans, materials, builder incentives, inspections, warranties — all the important details. I’ve built strong relationships with reputable builders, lenders, and inspectors, so my clients get access to trusted resources and exclusive perks.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of being known as the person who truly shows up for her clients. Whether it’s a late-night call, negotiating an upgrade, or explaining loan options for the third time — I’m there.

I treat every client like family. I’m here to help you buy smart, build equity, and feel confident — whether it’s your first home, your forever home, or your investment property.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about Houston?
Hands down — the opportunity. This city truly gave me a chance to build a new life from scratch. It’s so diverse, welcoming, and full of people chasing their dreams. I love how you can meet someone from anywhere in the world just standing in line at a coffee shop. And don’t even get me started on the food — you can eat your way around the globe without leaving the city!

Plus, as someone in real estate, I appreciate how much Houston has to offer — from affordable starter homes to stunning luxury estates, and all the vibrant neighborhoods in between. There’s something here for everyone.

What I like least?
Honestly… the traffic 😅. And the weather can be intense — you never really know if it’s going to be blazing hot, pouring rain, or both in the same day. But hey, we adjust! Houston teaches you to be flexible — and always keep an umbrella in the car.

Lately, golf has become one of my favorite ways to relax and reset — there’s just something peaceful about it. You might also catch glimpses of me inside beautifully crafted homes by Intown Homes — I love showcasing quality design and construction.

And then there’s a special part of my story: I’m originally from Kyrgyzstan, and I’m so proud of my roots. One of my favorite memories is wearing traditional Kyrgyz attire while standing in the breathtaking mountains of my homeland — a piece of home I’ll always carry with me.
