Today we’d like to introduce you to Roy Studmire.
Hi Roy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Absolutely. I always say my story is proof that God doesn’t waste anything — not your pain, your process, or even your past. I was homeless at 18. No direction, just trying to survive and figure out who I was supposed to become. But that rock bottom season taught me something I couldn’t have learned any other way: if you’ve got faith, a vision, and relentless work ethic, you can build from anywhere.
Music became my outlet first. It was how I expressed myself, how I processed what I was going through. I started producing, songwriting, mixing, self-taught at first, just grinding. I eventually built a name for myself in the music industry, landing placements with major networks like NBC, Netflix, Disney, the NFL, and even producing the first-ever hip-hop song for the U.S. Army. But while doors were opening, I started to feel God calling me to something deeper.
I walked away from the secular artist path I was on to fully step into purpose. Now, everything I do, from my mentorship programs like AMPED and TRIM, to teaching hip-hop at Berklee College of Music, to speaking, ministry, and creating clean, sync-ready music is rooted in that calling.
My wife and I now run multiple businesses under Studmire & Co., a faith-centered creative hub. We’re building something that helps people transform, whether it’s through health, entrepreneurship, music, or faith. I’m not just here to entertain; I’m here to equip and impact. My life is proof that you can go from overlooked to overflow when you move with intention and trust God’s design.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not even close, but I wouldn’t trade the journey for anything.
There were nights I didn’t know where I was going to sleep, and days where I was living off dollar-menu meals just trying to get through. I’ve dealt with rejection, being overlooked, misunderstood, and the pressure of trying to provide while still chasing purpose. Even after getting some wins in the music industry, I had to wrestle with identity — was I doing this for recognition or for the Kingdom?
One of the hardest shifts was walking away from the secular music path. That meant leaving money on the table, turning down opportunities, and learning how to fully trust God with my career. I’ve also had to rebuild my credit, restructure my business, and learn how to lead not just as an artist or creative, but as a husband, father, teacher, and man of faith.
And to be real, I still go through things. I deal with health challenges, I’ve felt burnout, and I’ve had to check my heart in seasons of success. But every setback taught me something. Every delay built discipline. And every struggle reminded me that I’m not doing this on my own. It hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been solid—because God’s been with me every step.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a music producer, songwriter, engineer, educator, and minister — but really, I’m someone who’s fully surrendered his gifts to God. Everything I do is driven by purpose, not popularity. Whether it’s creating clean, high-level music for TV and film, teaching at Berklee College of Music, or mentoring young creatives through my AMPED and TRIM programs, I’ve committed my life to using creativity as a tool for impact.
I specialize in music that’s sync-ready, culturally relevant, and spiritually grounded. I’ve had placements with NBC, Netflix, Disney, Bravo, Universal, and more — and I was honored to be the first music producer to create a hip-hop record for the U.S. Army Field Band. But one of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is launching a music program inside a correctional facility here in Boston. Being able to bring hope, skill-building, and creative freedom into a space that often feels forgotten is something I consider sacred work.
What sets me apart is that I’m not chasing trends — I’m stewarding purpose. I’ve built a lane that merges faith, excellence, and innovation. I gave God my full “yes,” and because of that, He’s opened doors I never imagined. I’m not just here to make noise — I’m here to make a difference.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I’m always open to connecting with people who are serious about purpose, impact, and creativity. Whether you’re an artist looking for clean, commercial-level production, a brand looking for sync music, a ministry in need of training or media support, or an organization trying to reach the next generation — there’s room to build.
You can work with me through Studmire & Co., where we offer everything from music production and education to mentorship, business consulting, and creative media. I also speak, teach, and lead trainings for churches, schools, and creative teams. And if you’re looking to collaborate, I’m especially passionate about projects that align with faith, innovation, and transformation.
Supporting my work can be as simple as sharing what we’re doing, attending events, donating to our youth programs, or bringing our message to your platform. Every partnership helps us expand the mission and reach people who need it most.
