Check Out Xoë Miles’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Xoë Miles.

Hi Xoë, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up, my mom always had music playing around the house, anywhere from Taylor Swift to Foo Fighters concert movies, so I was really always surrounded by it! I loved doing elementary school plays and putting on “concerts” for my family. I even “tried” piano lessons at one point, but got bored because they wouldn’t let me play the songs that I wanted to play… so I got frustrated, LOL (didn’t last long). But, the second I saw Hannah Montana premiere on TV I was like “oh my god, that’s what I want to do!” So I started making up little songs about princesses and stuffed animals and basically thought I was the coolest person ever. Once I got to middle school, all of my friends would get me to sing in front of the whole class, and I literally have no idea what even prompted this, but I guess it was a good thing because it got me used to singing in front of people. Eventually, one of my friends told me about a local songwriting camp, where you got to write, record, and perform your own original song all in one week. I ended up going, and ever since then I’ve been writing, recording, and playing my own gigs! Some may know me as Emily Cole; I perform out a lot, and I set up acoustic for my live shows. I’m currently in the process of rebranding to Xoë Miles (a combination of letters from my actual first name and how I sign off on things online- xo). As an artist, I’ve grown a lot over the years. I recently learned to produce and engineer my own music. While I love playing out as an acoustic pop artist, the rebrand will show that I can do more than that. I’ve always wanted to get into the EDM music scene, and I’m so excited to finally start having some movement when it comes to that! I’m so excited for y’all to see all of the amazing things coming up.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been amazing for the most part, but there have definitely been ups and downs. Of course, there’s the occasional being let down by people who talk a big talk but don’t really do what they tell you they can do, but most of my struggles come with my anxiety. Sometimes I can get overwhelmed when it comes to creating my songs, or even when I’m out playing a gig because of all the different things going on sending me into sensory overload, but I take a step back, remind myself to breathe and that I’m okay and safe, and then get through it the best I can.

I’ve always had a really strong sense of self when it comes to who I am as a person, as well as who I am as an artist. Being from a small town in Texas, I always get people trying to tell me that I should be singing country music instead of pop music. Which, nothing against them or country music, but it’s just not me… at all. I feel like sticking to my guns, always being myself no matter what, and staying in my own lane of music for sure sets me apart from others.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Thank you! And, thanks so much for this interview. I’m an alt pop singer-songwriter/recording artist. I have been releasing music since I was 15, as Emily Cole. At 21, I decided to take on the production and engineering side of my music, and I released 3 self-produced singles and my full album, “Manipulated.” In 2022, I rebranded to Xoë Miles, and released my newest self-produced single “In My Head.” This single is a co-write with LA singer-songwriter, Michelle Buzz. It’s co-produced by my brother, Jack Little, and myself. “In My Head” can be found on all music platforms.

How do you think about happiness?
Obviously making music and performing, but when I have downtime, I love playing video games, watching YouTube, dying my hair, scrolling through Pinterest, and customizing my dream cars online for fun (a girl can dream LOL). I also love to hang out with my friends, even though I feel like that’s a pretty basic answer that everyone says, but it’s true! We all have common interests and have so much fun together.
